A rewinder unwind roll motor can sway back and forth while winding a paper roll. This makes the finished roll loose. Three common causes are below.
Support plate thickness is not enough.
If the support plate is too thin, it can flex under load. The unwind roll then moves side to side. Check plate thickness, stiffness, and mounting rigidity against the machine design. Add reinforcement or replace the plate if needed.
The roll body has not been dynamically balanced.
If the roll body was not checked for dynamic balance, internal damage or a broken end can create an unbalanced mass. The roll then vibrates and sways as it turns. Dynamic balancing should be done before installation and after any repair.
Bearing clearance is not set correctly.
If bearing clearance is too loose or too tight, the roll can shift. This shows up as uneven edges on the outside of the paper roll. Check bearing clearance and adjust it to the manufacturer specification. Also check bearing wear and housing fit.
These causes can overlap. A thin support plate can amplify vibration from an unbalanced roll. Bad bearing clearance can make the edge problem worse. Check mechanical rigidity, dynamic balance, and bearing setup together.
For rewinder builders, Hansheng Automation can machine custom support plates, roll shafts, bearing housings, and balancing components from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches.
Beyond rewinder unwind roll parts, our precision component customization is not limited to this topic. We machine tobacco packaging machinery parts, filling machinery parts, yacht precision components, RC car precision components, medical device components, printing machinery parts, and food machinery parts. Hansheng Automation works from customer drawings and delivers one-off or batch parts to the required material, tolerance, and surface finish. Our scope is precision components, not complete machines.
