Customers who use cam indexers often think that in order to improve the division positioning accuracy, they must use servo motors and cannot use ordinary motor drive, thinking that using ordinary motor drive will affect the indexing accuracy. Is this the real situation? Of course not, why?
In fact, the division positioning accuracy of cam indexer is determined by the divider's own factors. It has nothing to do with the driving motor, where the motor, brake motor, stepping motor or servo motor only provides driving power.
The cam indexer is composed of cam with curve and straight line segment and turret with roller bearing. The indexing positioning accuracy is determined by the cam curve accuracy, roller bearing accuracy, roller bearing distribution accuracy, cam and roller assembly accuracy, etc. Once the assembly is completed, the indexing accuracy will be fixed in the absence of obvious wear and tear, as long as the driving motor can turn the cam indexer roller to cam straight line segment, it is enough to drive the cam indexer. As long as the drive motor can turn the cam indexer roller to the cam linear section can be, as for whether the drive motor is a servo motor, is not very relevant.
You may have questions again, not a servo motor, but an ordinary motor, can ensure that the intermittent operation of the cam indexer is smooth, there is no impact when stopping, and there is no jitter when starting? Because the curve drive section adopts the modified positive rotational acceleration curve, which ensures the smoothness of the intermittent operation of the cam indexer.
Of course, sometimes, in order to prolong the stopping time, it is necessary to start the motor with high frequency, and you do not want to use the brake clutch, then you can choose to use the servo motor. However, the servo motor here is only to adapt to high frequency starting, not to improve the indexing accuracy of the cam indexer.
