Overheating risks in an automatic label applicator usually come from four areas: drive, transmission friction, heating unit, and electrical control. Common problems include servo motor overload, label roller friction, heating unit temperature control failure, and poor electrical contact.
- Drive
- Servo and stepper motors
- Motor overload. A labeling speed more than 15% above the rated value, or excessive label tension, raises winding losses. Temperature rise may exceed ambient temperature by more than 30°C. Refer to GB/T 755-2019 for rotating electrical machines.
- Blocked cooling. Label dust or adhesive residue can block motor cooling holes. A failed cooling fan can also stop heat from leaving.
- Bearing problems. Lack of grease or worn motor bearings increase mechanical loss and heat.
- Transmission friction
- Label rollers and traction wheels
- Too much pressure between the label roller and the pressure roller, or a label backing that is too thick or too slippery, sharply raises friction between the roller surface and the label. Local temperature rise may exceed 60°C, the mechanical friction safety threshold.
- A loose timing belt or misaligned chain causes jamming friction during transmission and adds heat.
- Transmission gears and shaft bearings
- Too little gear meshing clearance or missing grease causes dry friction and a large amount of heat.
- Too little bearing clearance or worn balls increase friction resistance and cause excess temperature rise.
- If label rollers, traction wheels, timing belt pulleys, gears, shaft sleeves, bearing seats, or similar parts wear or need replacement to drawing, we can machine single pieces or small batches from customer drawings. Hansheng Automation supports materials such as stainless steel and aluminum alloy, with tolerances and surface treatment controlled by the drawing. We focus on precision machined parts, not complete machines.
- Heating unit
- Thermal transfer heating rollers and heating plates
- Temperature control failure. If a thermocouple drifts or the temperature controller fails, the heating unit stays powered. Roller surface temperature may exceed the thermal transfer design value, usually no higher than 120°C.
- Blocked heat dissipation. Carbon buildup or residual label adhesive on the heating roller prevents heat from escaping and causes local overheating.
- Electrical control
- Contactors, relays, and terminal blocks
- Oxidized or burned contacts increase contact resistance. Local heating occurs when powered, and temperature rise may exceed ambient temperature by more than 25°C.
- Line overload or loose wiring causes excess current and overheating of lines or terminals.
Safety note
If temperature rise in any area exceeds its safety threshold, stop the machine immediately. Have a certified electrician or professional mechanical technician inspect and repair it. Do not disassemble high-voltage or high-temperature parts without authorization.
Beyond automatic label applicator parts, Hansheng Automation also machines precision parts to drawing for other industries, such as pharmaceutical packaging equipment, personal care filling lines, food processing equipment, electronics manufacturing tooling, yacht hardware, and RC car structural parts. We handle single pieces and small batches and focus on precision machined parts, not complete machines.
