For zinc stearate, the preferred pulverizing equipment depends on the required particle size, production capacity, and temperature-control requirements. Common options include low-temperature ultrafine pulverizers, nitrogen-protected airflow pulverizers, and pin disc pulverizers.

1. Common Pulverizing Equipment

Nitrogen-Protected Airflow Pulverizer

A nitrogen-protected airflow pulverizer is suitable for applications requiring high purity, narrow particle size distribution, and effective temperature control. It can be considered for pharmaceutical, food-grade, and high-end zinc stearate processing where excessive temperature rise must be avoided.

The equipment uses high-velocity gas streams to drive particles into repeated collisions and friction, achieving fine pulverization without direct mechanical grinding. Low-temperature nitrogen can also help remove heat from the grinding chamber while reducing contact with oxygen.

Depending on the equipment configuration and process parameters, this type of system can achieve ultrafine particle sizes for demanding applications.

Low-Temperature Ultrafine Pulverizer

A low-temperature ultrafine pulverizer is suitable for general-purpose zinc stearate processing with medium production requirements. Water cooling or an external cooling system can be incorporated to control the grinding temperature.

The grinding mechanism may use high-speed rotor-stator assemblies or other grinding elements to generate impact and shearing forces. A suitable cooling system helps limit temperature rise during continuous operation.

Compared with airflow pulverizing systems, this type of equipment may offer lower equipment and operating costs for applications with less demanding fineness requirements.

Pin Disc Pulverizer

A pin disc pulverizer is suitable when the required particle size is relatively coarse compared with ultrafine applications. It is commonly used for general-purpose zinc stearate processing.

The rotating and stationary pin discs generate repeated impact and shearing forces to reduce the material size. Depending on the machine design, an air-cooling structure can also help control the temperature during pulverization.

2. Equipment Requiring Caution

High-speed pulverizers without an effective cooling system should be used with caution when processing zinc stearate. Rapid temperature increases may affect material quality and can lead to discoloration, odor, or agglomeration.

Roller-type grinding equipment should also be selected carefully. Localized heat generation during compression and a relatively broad particle size distribution may make it less suitable for applications requiring fine and consistent zinc stearate powder.

3. Selection and Operating Considerations

Temperature monitoring is important when processing temperature-sensitive materials. The grinding system should include a suitable real-time temperature monitoring and control system, with the operating limit determined through actual material testing and equipment specifications.

For food-grade or pharmaceutical-grade zinc stearate, the equipment and auxiliary systems should meet the applicable hygiene, dust-control, and explosion-protection requirements of the target market.

Different zinc stearate materials can show different grinding characteristics depending on their production process and physical properties. Therefore, we recommend conducting laboratory or pilot-scale testing before finalizing the equipment model, grinding conditions, cooling method, and particle size target.

For customers with specific zinc stearate processing requirements, Hansheng Automation can also provide customized precision machining based on customer drawings and technical specifications, supporting non-standard components used in pulverizing, feeding, classification, and material-handling equipment.
