A metal detector usually has four main parts: the detection head, the control panel, the conveyor system, and the automatic reject system. Each part has a clear role in finding and removing metal contamination.
Detection head
The detection head is the core part for metal detection. It contains a balanced coil set: one transmit coil and two receive coils. The transmit coil carries a high-frequency current and creates a magnetic field. The two receive coils induce electromotive force and cancel each other, forming a balanced state. When a product passes through the coils and contains metal, the magnetic balance is disturbed, and the metal is detected.
Control panel and user interface
Control panels come in touchscreen and keypad types. They are usually mounted directly on the detection head. They can also be installed remotely with a connecting cable to suit different environments. Operators use the panel to run and monitor the detection process.
Conveyor system
The most common conveyor type is a horizontal belt. Other types include gravity fall, horizontal pipe, and plastic guide chute. The conveyor moves products through the opening of the detection head for metal detection. We machine metal detector parts from customer drawings, such as conveyor frames, guide chutes, adjustment seats, and guards. Hansheng Automation supports single-piece and small-batch custom machining. Material can be 304/316 stainless steel, aluminum alloy, or other grades specified on the drawing. Tolerances and surface treatment follow the drawing. We focus on precision machined parts, not complete machines.
Automatic reject system
Reject systems include air blast, pusher, and flap types. They are usually mounted on the conveyor system. When metal is detected, the system rejects the affected product from the production line so it does not move to the next process. Different reject systems suit different product types and line speeds.
Beyond metal detector parts, our drawing-based custom machining also covers food machinery, pharmaceutical equipment, textile machinery, filling machinery, tobacco packaging machinery, yacht hardware, and RC car structural parts. We machine single pieces and small batches to drawing for equipment builders and production lines.
