The rotary drum screen is a major type of stone rolling screening machine. It is widely used to classify stones and aggregates of different particle sizes.
1. Basic Structure
A rotary drum screen mainly consists of a motor, reducer, drum assembly, screen mesh, frame, sealing cover, inlet, and outlet. The drum assembly is the core component, and its outer surface is covered with one or more layers of screen mesh to provide different screening specifications. To ensure structural strength and stability, steel reinforcement rings are usually added around the drum to prevent deformation. Vibrating drum screens may also include a screen box, screen frame, vibrating motor, motor base, damping springs, and support brackets. For such core parts as drum shells, screen panels, and reinforcement rings, Hansheng Automation provides custom machining according to customer drawings.
2. Working Principle
The motor drives the reducer, which rotates the drum assembly. Material enters the drum through the inlet. As the drum rotates, the material rolls and tumbles inside the screen. Particles of different sizes experience different resistance and friction on the screen surface, allowing them to be classified. Screened material is then discharged from the outlet.
3. Installation Process
Before installation, embedded steel plates should be placed according to the equipment installation drawing, and their upper surfaces should be kept on the same plane. The screen body is positioned based on the inlet and outlet locations, lifted onto the support frame, adjusted to the designed angle, and fixed by welding. The inlet and outlet should be connected tightly to prevent material leakage, and the lower sealing plate of the support frame should be installed to maintain internal sealing. After installation, the drum should be rotated manually to check for excessive resistance or jamming. If the drum screen has been stored for more than six months before installation, the main shaft bearings should be removed, cleaned, and refilled with fresh grease, such as No. 2 lithium-based grease.
4. Application Example
Suppose a batch of stones with different particle sizes needs to be screened. The stones are fed into the drum screen through the inlet. When the motor starts, the drum rotates, and the stones roll and separate inside the screen. Larger particles remain above the screen, while smaller particles pass through the screen and fall into a collection device below. By changing the screen specifications and the number of screen layers, different particle size classifications can be achieved. The classified stones are then discharged from the outlet.
5. Advantages
The rotary drum screen offers high screening efficiency and large processing capacity. By adjusting screen specifications and layers, it can achieve precise classification of stones with different particle sizes. It adapts well to stones of various hardness levels and is not easily blocked. The structure is simple, and the equipment is easy to maintain and service.
In summary, the rotary drum screen is an important type of stone rolling screening machine. Its advantages include high screening efficiency, good classification accuracy, strong adaptability, and convenient maintenance, making it widely applicable in stone screening operations.
