Optical sorting machines play an essential role in the automatic inspection of magnets and magnetic sheets. Using high-precision machine vision technology, they accurately detect appearance, dimensions, defects, and other quality characteristics. The following is a specific application case.
1. Inspection Requirements
Workpiece size: Magnets or magnetic sheets measuring 10 mm in length and 8 mm in width.
Inspection items:
Bottom appearance: Detect scratches, stains, cracks, and other defects on the bottom surface.
Top appearance: Check whether the top surface is flat and free from damage, missing corners, or foreign matter.
Missing corner detection: Accurately identify whether the workpiece has missing corners to ensure product integrity.
Height measurement: Measure the height to confirm it meets specifications.
Inspection efficiency: 180 to 300 pieces per minute, depending on feeding speed.
Inspection accuracy: Dimensional accuracy reaches 0.008 mm.
2. Equipment Composition
The optical sorting machine includes a compact structure measuring 900 mm × 800 mm × 1850 mm, a vision inspection software system, an industrial computer, and a 19-inch display for real-time monitoring. Four industrial cameras are used for bottom, front, front backlight, and side backlight inspection to achieve full coverage. The system also includes three FA industrial lenses and one telecentric lens, a professional glass disc for holding workpieces, solenoid valves, a reducer, and a vibrating cabinet. Feeding is performed by a vibrating plate and discharge by a belt conveyor. For integration into such systems, Hansheng Automation provides custom-machined structural components such as glass disc mounting plates, camera brackets, and precision guide parts according to customer drawings.
3. Inspection Methods and Results
Bottom inspection: Captures images of the bottom surface. Qualified products show no obvious defects, while unqualified products may show edge silver contamination or reversed material.
Top backlight inspection: Captures top images under backlight. Qualified parts have a flat surface, while defective parts show missing corners or breakage.
Top front light inspection: Captures top images under front light. Qualified parts show no visible defects, while defective parts may have edge damage or mixed material.
Side inspection: Qualified parts show no obvious defects on the side surface.
4. System Installation Requirements
The machine should be installed separately beside the production line with adequate space. The ambient temperature should remain between 0°C and 50°C, and the relative humidity should be below 90% RH. The installation site should be free from strong electronic interference. A power supply of AC 220 V, 50 Hz is required, with power consumption below 1 KVA.
In summary, the optical sorting machine offers significant advantages in automatic magnet and magnetic sheet inspection. It can perform comprehensive, high-precision detection and improve both production efficiency and product quality.
