A tire vulcanizing press is used to vulcanize tires during manufacturing. Bladder type tire curing presses are commonly used for this process. The main equipment types differ according to tire size, mold configuration, and operating requirements.
Main types of tire vulcanizing presses
Dual mold tire curing presses
Dual mold tire curing presses are mainly used for tires with an inner diameter below 65 in. Typical applications include passenger car tires, as well as tires for light and medium duty trucks.
These machines use a crank, gear, and linkage mechanism to close the molds. The mechanism can generate substantial clamping force as the molds reach the closed position.
Single mold curing presses and curing autoclaves
Single mold curing presses or curing autoclaves are generally used for larger tires with diameters above 65 in.
The choice of equipment depends primarily on tire dimensions and the requirements of the vulcanization process.
Operating characteristics of dual mold curing presses
Mechanical mold closing mechanism
A dual mold curing press uses a crank, gear, and connecting linkage structure to close the molds. As the mechanism reaches the closed position, it can generate considerable clamping force to hold the molds together during vulcanization.
Energy efficient operation
The mechanical closing mechanism can achieve effective mold clamping with a relatively small motor. Once the molds are closed, the motor no longer needs to run continuously to maintain the clamping force. The force remains in place until the molds are opened again.
Development of tire vulcanizing presses
Various manufacturers around the world produce mechanical tire vulcanizing presses in different models and sizes. Although their specifications and configurations vary, their basic structures and operating principles remain broadly similar.
The core design of mechanical tire vulcanizing presses has changed relatively little over many years of development and refinement. These machines continue to meet the requirements of tire vulcanization processes.
