Tire factories use several types of vulcanization equipment, including vulcanizing presses, curing autoclaves, and heating plates. These serve different functions in the vulcanization process, from shaping and curing tires to supplying the heat required for rubber crosslinking.
Vulcanizing presses
Vulcanizing presses are core equipment in rubber processing. They can be classified into flat vulcanizing presses, individual tire vulcanizing presses, and tire curing presses.
Flat vulcanizing presses are commonly used for small rubber products and tire components. Individual tire vulcanizing presses are suitable for smaller tires or specialized tire production. Tire curing presses are widely used in large tire manufacturing plants, where they can carry out tire shaping and vulcanization in the same process.
These machines allow operators to control vulcanization temperature, pressure, and time precisely. Maintaining consistent process parameters helps achieve uniform product quality between production batches.
Curing autoclaves
Curing autoclaves generally have a cylindrical structure and are available in horizontal or vertical configurations. They can accommodate multiple tires for simultaneous vulcanization, making them suitable for production involving larger quantities.
The process uses high temperature, high pressure steam to transfer heat through the tire and complete vulcanization. However, curing autoclaves can consume substantial energy and may require longer curing cycles.
Heating plates
Heating plates supply heat during the vulcanization process. They are typically heated by electricity or steam to provide a uniform temperature distribution.
Their design helps heat the tire tread and sidewalls at the same time, reducing the risk of defective products caused by incomplete vulcanization in localized areas. Uniform heating supports the crosslinking reaction in the rubber materials and helps the finished tire achieve the required properties.
