Removing an extruder head requires special tools and a standard procedure. The key points are cooling, loosening bolts in a diagonal pattern, and protecting precision parts.

1. Common tool list

Adjustable wrench: fits different bolt sizes.

Box-end wrench: prevents slipping. Bolt specifications must match.

Copper bar: used for tapping parts without damaging the metal surface of the head.

Pry bar: separates tightly connected parts.

Screwdriver: flathead or Phillips, for removing sensor covers and other small parts.

2. Removal steps

Cooling preparation: Turn off power and drain the material. Wait until the head temperature drops to 50 to 60 °C or below, as specified in the equipment manual.

Remove auxiliary parts: First remove the temperature sensor and thermocouple. Mark the power cable connectors for the heating bands.

Loosen bolts: Use a wrench to loosen the connecting bolts gradually in a diagonal sequence. This prevents head deformation.

Separate the head: Use a pry bar or copper bar to gently pry it apart. Keep the gasket.

Internal removal: Complex heads require further removal of the flow plate, filter screen, and other parts. Record the installation direction and position of each part.

We can machine flow plates, filter screens, gaskets, and head inner sleeves from customer drawings.

Precautions: Different extruder models have different structures. Always check the equipment manual before operation. Avoid hammering with force during removal. Store precision parts separately to prevent impact damage.

Beyond extruder head removal and repair, our precision custom machining capability is not limited to one industry. Hansheng Automation can machine non-standard metal parts for food packaging machinery, medical devices, and printing equipment from customer drawings. We also machine yacht components, RC car components, and specialized parts for tobacco packaging and filling machinery. We focus on build-to-print custom machining and produce single pieces or small batches according to customer drawings. We do not sell complete machines.
