A corn seed small bag packaging machine is usually operated in four stages: preparation before startup, startup and adjustment, formal packaging, and shutdown, cleaning, and maintenance. Following this order helps keep packaging accuracy stable and extends equipment life.
Preparation before startup
(1) Routine equipment checks
Check the machine exterior. The feed inlet, discharge pipe, and outlet should have no leftover seed clumps or blockages. Safety guards and the emergency stop switch should be intact and working.
Check electrical terminals for looseness and pneumatic or hydraulic lines for leaks. Keep air pressure at 0.4 to 0.6 MPa, which suits most commercial models.
Clean the packaging film guide rollers and heat sealing components. Remove dust and leftover material. Make sure the film roll is installed correctly and the film path is clear.
(2) Material and consumable preparation
Check the corn seed batch and moisture content. Moisture content should be ≤13%, which meets seed storage and packaging standards. Pour seeds into the feed hopper. A single fill should not exceed 80% of the hopper rated volume.
Choose packaging film that matches the discharge opening size. Prepare heat sealing bar consumables of the correct specification. Replace film rolls before they run out.
(3) Safety pre-check
Before disconnecting the main power, press the emergency stop switch and reset it. Confirm that the machine stops immediately when the emergency stop is triggered and shows no abnormality.
Startup and adjustment
(1) No-load trial run
Connect power and air supply. Start the machine and let it run empty for 3 to 5 minutes. Watch the guide rollers and film feeding system for smooth operation, unusual noise, jamming, or deviation.
Adjust the film tension knob. Fine-tune the guide roller position to correct deviation. If film with positioning holes is used, calibrate the positioning mark on the printed bag.
(2) Working parameter settings
Set the packaging weight on the operation panel or touch screen, such as 100 g per bag or 500 g per bag, according to order requirements. Set heat sealing temperature by film type. PE film uses 120 to 160°C. NY/PE composite film uses 150 to 180°C. Set sealing time to 0.5 to 2 s.
Adjust the discharge vibration frequency or screw speed. Use sample weighing to calibrate the single discharge amount. Keep packaging weight error within ±1%, which meets common seed packaging industry standards.
(3) Trial packaging verification
Produce 5 to 10 finished bags continuously. Check each bag for seal tightness and appearance. Use sample weighing to confirm accuracy. Adjust parameters until they meet requirements.
Formal packaging operation
Reset the emergency stop switch and start the automatic packaging program. Operators should stand outside the safety guard. Check the feed hopper level regularly and refill in time to avoid empty running.
During operation, take 3 to 5 finished bags every 15 to 30 minutes for weighing and seal checks. If weight deviation is out of range or seals are not tight, stop the machine and adjust.
If film jamming or material jamming occurs, press the emergency stop switch first, cut off the main power, and then clear the moving parts. Do not touch moving parts by hand before power is disconnected.
Shutdown, cleaning, and maintenance
(1) Daily shutdown cleaning
After work, turn off the main power and air supply. Empty leftover seeds from the feed hopper and discharge pipe.
Use a soft brush and low-pressure compressed air to clean leftover material from heat sealing components, guide rollers, and the feed hopper. This prevents seeds from absorbing moisture, caking, and blocking pipes.
Wipe dust from the machine surface. Replace used film rolls. Tidy the work area.
(2) Regular deep maintenance
Every week, check drive belt tension. Add the specified type of grease to rotating bearings as required by the equipment manual.
Every month, calibrate the weighing sensor, tighten electrical terminals, and check for line leaks.
Every quarter, perform a full disassembly and cleaning. Replace aged heat sealing bars and seals. For annual full-machine inspection, use the equipment manufacturer or professional maintenance personnel.
Among these maintenance and wear parts, heat sealing bars, guide rollers, discharge pipes, cutting knives, seals, and weighing sensor brackets often need replacement by drawing.
