Cutter faults in automatic vertical granular packing machines should be diagnosed according to the specific symptoms. Common faults and corresponding solutions are as follows.
1. Packaging bags cannot be cut through completely
Insufficient cutter sharpness:
After long-term use, the cutting edge becomes worn, increasing cutting resistance. The cutter should be reground with appropriate sharpening tools, or replaced with a new cutter if necessary.
Excessive gap in the transverse sealing components:
If a gap exists between the transverse sealing parts, the cutter cannot make full contact with the packaging material. Adjust the installation position of the transverse sealing components to ensure they fit tightly together without clearance.
2. Part of the serrated edge is missing on the cut bag
Cutter tooth loss:
The serrated teeth of the cutter may fall off due to material fatigue or external impact. Stop the machine immediately and inspect the cutter. If the damage is severe, replace the entire cutter. If only individual teeth are missing, repair may be attempted with a special adhesive, provided it is high-temperature resistant and non-toxic.
3. Bags are misaligned after cutting
Improper cutter installation:
The cutter may not be installed flat or may be oriented incorrectly, causing the cutting path to deviate. Remove and reinstall the cutter according to the equipment manual, ensuring the cutter is perpendicular to the direction of film travel.
Packaging film deviation:
The packaging film may shift during conveying due to uneven tension or sticking guide rollers. Check whether the guide rollers rotate smoothly, and adjust the film tension control device to keep the material path centered.
4. The cutter does not work at all
Control system stop:
The cutter function may be accidentally turned off on the screen control panel, or a program error may have occurred. Check whether the cutter start button on the control panel is activated, restart the cutter control program, or reset the equipment.
Speed parameter mismatch:
The cutter start time or operating speed may be out of sync with the overall packing machine speed. Adjust the cutter speed parameters on the control panel so that the cutter maintains a fixed ratio with the main shaft speed, such as 1:1 synchronization.
Sensor signal abnormality:
After transverse sealing, the cylinder sensor may fail to detect the in-position signal, preventing the cutter from actuating. Check whether the sensor mounting position has shifted, clean any contamination from the sensor surface, or replace the faulty sensor.
Pneumatic or electrical circuit faults:
A stuck solenoid valve, cylinder air leakage, or incorrect wiring can interrupt power transmission. Check the air circuit connections for tightness, test the on/off function of the solenoid valve, and use a multimeter to verify circuit continuity. Repair or replace damaged components as needed.
Routine maintenance recommendations:
After each use, clean residual granules and packaging material fragments from the cutter surface to prevent corrosion.
Regularly check whether the cutter fastening bolts are loose to avoid position shift caused by vibration during operation.
Conduct a comprehensive inspection of the cutter every 200 operating hours, including cutting edge wear, tooth integrity, and installation accuracy.
Establish an equipment maintenance record to document cutter replacement dates and fault symptoms for future reference.
