Laser marking machines can mark ceramic workpieces effectively, producing clear and durable results.
Working Principle and Results
Ceramics are mainly composed of inorganic non-metallic materials such as oxides and nitrides, which have high temperature resistance and high melting points. The high-energy laser beam instantly vaporizes or changes the color of the ceramic surface without damaging the overall structure of the workpiece.
- UV laser marking machines are suitable for fine marking. They can produce clear text, patterns, and QR codes on ceramic surfaces without leaving black or yellow residue, making them ideal for high-end ceramic products.
- Fiber laser marking machines are suitable for dark ceramics or applications with moderate precision requirements. After marking, they create light gray or black marks with strong adhesion and good wear resistance.
Precautions
For very thin ceramic workpieces, laser power should be controlled to prevent penetration.
For glazed ceramics, it is advisable to confirm the glaze material before marking. Some high-gloss glaze surfaces may affect the marking result, so laser parameters may need to be adjusted accordingly.
A small amount of ceramic dust is generated during marking. Using a dust extraction device is recommended to protect the equipment and working environment.
For non-standard fixtures and dust extraction brackets used in ceramic marking applications, Hansheng Automation provides custom machining based on customer drawings or samples, including single-piece and small-batch orders.
