Why our surface treatments look better and last longer

Many shops struggle with finishing because their initial machining is rough. At Hansheng Automation, we believe a superior surface finish begins before the chemical tank.

We utilize high-end equipment like Seibu Wire EDM and Brother CNC Lathes to achieve exceptional baseline quality. Our in-house machining capabilities ensure the substrate is flawless, allowing for better adhesion of coatings and smoother electropolishing results.

Our In-House Precision Standards:
Ultra-Mirror Machining: Achieving ±0.002mm accuracy with near-optical surface quality directly off the machine.
Precision Grinding: Holding ±0.005mm tolerances, perfect for preparing shafts and gears for hard chrome or PVD.
Precision Turning & Milling: Standard tolerances of ±0.005mm - ±0.01mm, ensuring complex geometries remain accurate even after surface removal/addition.

Our Integrated Service Capabilities

1. Our Core Surface Treatment Capabilities

Whether you require functional corrosion protection or a decorative finish for your machined parts, we offer a comprehensive range of stainless steel surface treatment options.

Metal Passivation

Our metal passivation process uses citric acid or nitric acid solutions to remove contaminants and promote the formation of a dense chromium oxide protective layer.

After this process, parts maintain their original dimensional tolerances and exhibit a clean, silvery-white metallic surface. Suitable for industrial valves, aerospace fasteners, and any parts requiring enhanced corrosion resistance without altering dimensions.

Electropolishing Service

This process can also be understood as reverse electroplating. Our high-quality electropolishing service removes surface material at the microscopic level through an electrochemical reaction. It eliminates tiny burrs and smooths surface peaks and valleys, making it virtually impossible for bacteria or moisture to adhere.

Electropolished parts have a bright, high-gloss surface and offer stronger chemical corrosion resistance than passivation. Suitable for medical implants, pharmaceutical piping, food processing equipment, and semiconductor components.

Stainless Steel Polishing & Brushing

We offer two mechanical surface treatments. Mirror polishing (No. 8 Finish) creates a reflective, high-end visual effect; brushing (No. 4 Finish) creates a durable satin texture that effectively hides fingerprints and minor scratches, offering high practicality.

PVD Coating Service

We deposit ultra-hard thin films (such as titanium nitride, diamond-like carbon) onto the surface of parts. Parts treated with this process have a surface hardness exceeding that of the steel itself, are scratch-resistant, and have a long-lasting color. Suitable for luxury consumer electronics, high-end watch components, and decorative automotive interiors.

Sandblasting

We use abrasive media to impact the surface of parts to achieve a uniform matte finish. Parts treated with this process have a soft, matte gray surface with a textured feel. Suitable for reducing glare, improving coating adhesion, or other functional pre-treatments.

2. Advanced Machining Capacity

We don't just finish parts; we manufacture them to global standards using a diverse fleet of advanced machinery:

Complex Geometries: Utilizing 5-Axis capabilities and Seibu WEDM (M50B) for intricate cuts that require minimal post-processing.

Large Scale Projects: Equipped with Horizontal Machining Centers capable of processing sizes up to 2100mm x 1060mm. Perfect for large stainless steel plates, frames, and housings that need uniform sandblasting or painting.

Why Finish With Us?

Seamless Integration, Zero Headaches

Separating CNC machining from finishing invites risk-logistical delays, finger-pointing over quality issues, and inconsistent results. We bring it all under one roof.

Tolerance Preservation

Amateur finishing can ruin a precision part by etching away too much material or adding uneven coating layers. Our engineers calculate the impact of Electropolishing or PVD on your dimensions. We machine parts with specific offsets (e.g., leaving 0.005mm extra stock) to ensure the final coated part hits the exact ±0.005mm requirement.

01

From Prototyping to Mass Production

Whether you need a single prototype on our Vertical Milling Machines or high-volume production on our Brother TC-S2A automated lathe lines, our finishing quality remains consistent across every batch.

02

Verified Quality

We strictly adhere to industry standards, including ASTM A967 for passivation and ASTM B912 for use CMM & Surface Roughness Testers electropolishing ensuring both dimensional accuracy (down to microns) and Ra/Rz surface finish standards are met.

FAQ

Q: How do you ensure tight tolerances (e.g., ±0.005mm) are maintained after surface treatment?

A: This is where our high-precision capability stands out. Since we control the machining process down to ±0.005mm (Precision Grinding) or even ±0.002mm (Ultra-Mirror Machining), we can calculate and apply precise "offsets" during the CNC stage. For treatments that add thickness (like PVD) or remove material (like Electropolishing), we machine the part slightly under or oversized to ensure the final coated component lands exactly within your required tolerance range.

Q: Can you achieve high-gloss surfaces directly through machining without manual polishing?

A: Yes. With our Ultra-Mirror Machining technology (accuracy ±0.002mm), we can achieve near-optical surface quality directly on the machine. For many applications, this eliminates the need for inconsistent manual buffing, ensuring better geometric accuracy and lower costs. However, for aesthetic parts requiring a specific "mirror" look (No. 8 finish), we can combine this with electropolishing for the perfect result.

Q: What is the maximum part size you can handle for machining and finishing?

A: We are equipped to handle large-scale structural components. Our Horizontal Machining Center can process parts up to 2100mm x 1060mm. Whether you need a small precision gear or a large stainless steel equipment frame requiring sandblasting and passivation, we have the capacity to manage the entire project in-house.

Q: What is the difference between Passivation and Electropolishing?

A: Passivation is primarily a cleaning process that removes free iron and enhances corrosion resistance without changing the surface appearance or dimensions. Electropolishing, on the other hand, removes a microscopic layer of material to smooth out surface peaks. It provides superior corrosion resistance, a bright shiny appearance, and is the preferred choice for medical and semiconductor applications requiring strict hygiene and low surface roughness (Ra).

Q: I need wear-resistant gears. Can you machine and coat them?

A: Absolutely. We offer a complete solution for high-wear components. We manufacture precision gears using our Kashifuji Gear Skiving and Ningjiang Hobbing machines, and then apply PVD coatings (like TiN or DLC) to significantly increase surface hardness and reduce friction. This integrated process ensures the gear's tooth profile accuracy is preserved while maximizing its service life.
