For a long time, Deutsche Telekom, T-Systems (an international operational service provider of information technology and digital conversion under Deutsche Telekom), and Tongkuai have conducted in-depth cooperation in the field of network industrial positioning systems. Recently, the three parties officially signed a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting the joint launch and sales process of product solutions.

This collaboration aims to help enterprises, especially production and logistics departments, improve productivity and reduce operating costs by providing advanced solutions. The three parties will fully utilize their respective professional knowledge in the industry and digital field to achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

In terms of innovation tracking systems, these three companies have provided customers with real-time positioning systems (RTLS) developed by Tongkuai. This system is based on ultra wideband (UWB) technology and can achieve precise positioning up to 10-30 centimeters indoors and outdoors. It is suitable for real-time tracking of moving objects such as autonomous transportation systems and shipping containers. Permanently installed receivers (also known as satellites) communicate with mobile transmitters or tags, and the transmitted location data is processed by powerful software, allowing customer applications to access and use this data through standardized interfaces.

T-Systems can provide RTLS solutions on edge clouds and integrate them into customer systems. Data can be flexibly transmitted through public 5G networks and Deutsche Telekom's 5G campus network, eliminating the need for ultra wideband satellite LAN wiring.

Customers benefit from standards

This joint solution is based on the open "omlox" standard, allowing terminal devices from different manufacturers to be easily combined and used. As a result, customers gain greater flexibility and cost savings, avoiding reliance on proprietary systems. The first successfully implemented project achieved a return on investment (ROI) in less than a year, proving its economic benefits.

Real time positioning technology plays a crucial role in digital transformation, especially in areas such as production, logistics, and healthcare. It can achieve real-time tracking of objects and resources, promote more effective automation and process control, improve transparency, security, and planning accuracy.

In the manufacturing industry, real-time positioning helps optimize material flow and reduce bottlenecks; In the field of logistics, it improves the accuracy of goods tracking and accelerates the response speed to changes in supply chain management; In the healthcare field, real-time tracking supports optimization of medical device management and resource utilization.

Klaus Werner, General Manager of Business Accounts at Deutsche Telekom, said, "As Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems, we have a wide range of customer channels covering from medium-sized enterprises to large customers. When we showcase this solution to our customers, we feel their great interest. Real time positioning plays a core role in digitalization, and the key to success lies in the customized integration of different technologies to meet customers' unique challenges."

Eberhard Wahl, Managing Director of Tongkuai Tracking Technology, also emphasized, "Deutsche Telekom is our ideal partner. They not only have a broad customer base, but also experts in the field of mobile networks. In addition, we have identified over 200 industry use cases for the omlox community."

Successful pilot testing

During the pilot phase, a car manufacturer and a supplier have successfully demonstrated the advantages of this solution in practical operation. Previous market research has also confirmed a strong demand in the market for tracking solutions based on open standards.

Tongkuai has successfully applied this solution in factories in Europe and the United States for many years, and the facilities at its German factory in Dickens will soon be open to visitors. In addition, the solution has been successfully installed in the telecommunications industry center in Berlin and has provided an opportunity for on-site demonstrations to local customers.
