Meituan Drone announced that it has reached a partnership with Pizza Hut, and Pizza Hut has become the first pizza brand to launch Meituan drone delivery.
The trial will be implemented at the Pizza Hut Haiya Fun City and Yicheng Center stores in Shenzhen, where customers place orders near the drone pick-up points in Shenzhen Hengmingzhu International Financial Center and Shenzhen Huasheng Longyue, and the food will be delivered within a few minutes after packing.
Meituan officials said that in order to achieve drone delivery, Pizza Hut has made many adjustments and efforts. After several consultations between the two parties, the two sides focused on promoting the integration of classic 6-inch and 9-inch pizzas to adapt to the size of Meituan's fourth-generation drone delivery boxes. Based on this, Pizza Hut has launched a customized one-person meal and a multi-person meal for flights.
According to Meituan drone data, as of the end of June 2024, Meituan drones have opened 31 routes in Shenzhen, Shanghai, Guangzhou and other cities, and have completed more than 300,000 orders.
According to a previous report by IT House, in July 2023, Meituan's fourth-generation drone was officially unveiled, which is a small multi-rotor drone used in urban low-altitude distribution networks, with a maximum load of 2.5kg, a maximum take-off weight of 9.5kg, a maximum delivery radius of 5km with a full load, and a maximum delivery distance of 10km with a full load.
