A hydraulic dual mold tire curing press uses a hydraulic system to provide stable clamping pressure and two mold stations to carry out tire shaping and vulcanization. The dual mold configuration allows one station to vulcanize a tire while the other is prepared for loading, helping improve production efficiency and reduce idle time.

Preparation and mold closing

Place the uncured tire blank in the lower mold cavity. The hydraulic opening and closing mechanism then brings the upper and lower molds together and locks them in position. The mold surfaces must fit together properly to prevent gaps during vulcanization.

Vulcanization process

Hydraulic pressure supply

A hydraulic pump unit delivers high pressure oil to the locking cylinders, which generate the required mold clamping force.

For passenger car tires, the typical vulcanization pressure is 12 to 18 MPa. This pressure helps the tire blank conform to the mold cavity during the curing process.

Temperature and curing time control

The mold incorporates electric heating elements or steam heating passages to provide the required vulcanization temperature. The typical operating temperature is 150 to 170°C, with a curing time of 5 to 15 minutes depending on tire specifications.

Under these conditions, the rubber undergoes crosslinking and curing, forming the tread pattern, tread profile, and other features defined by the mold.

Advantages of the dual mold configuration

The machine has two separate mold stations. While one station is vulcanizing a tire, the other can be used to load the next uncured tire blank.

This arrangement reduces waiting time between cycles and improves equipment utilization by allowing loading preparation to take place alongside the vulcanization process.

Opening the mold and removing the tire

Once vulcanization is complete, the hydraulic system releases the pressure. The opening and closing mechanism separates the molds, and a robotic handling system removes the finished tire.

The machine is then ready for the next production cycle.

Safety precautions

Never open the safety doors while the equipment is operating. High pressure hydraulic lines present a risk of rupture. Before carrying out maintenance, disconnect the power supply and release the hydraulic pressure to help prevent injury.
