If the circular blade shaft on a slitter stops turning, check four areas in order: power supply, blade housing cleanliness, motor condition, and pulley adjustment.
Check the supply voltage
Unstable voltage can keep the motor from running. Measure the supply voltage at the machine. If it is out of range, contact an electrical engineer to inspect the circuit or replace the power plug. Restore stable voltage before running the machine again.
Clean inside the circular blade unit
Dust and debris can build up inside the circular blade assembly and block rotation. Clean the inside on a regular schedule. Follow the machine model and the instruction manual for the correct cleaning method. Do not force parts or use tools that can damage the blade or shaft.
Replace the motor
If the shaft still does not turn after cleaning, the motor may be faulty. Have a qualified technician inspect or replace the motor. If you have the necessary repair skills, you can replace it yourself, but follow the manual and lock out power first.
Adjust the pulley
A loose or worn pulley can reduce drive force and stop the circular blade from turning. Adjust the pulley as needed. The exact method depends on the machine model and the instruction manual. Check belt tension and pulley alignment at the same time.
For slitter builders, Hansheng Automation can machine custom circular blade shafts, pulleys, blade holders, and drive components from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches.
Summary
A circular blade shaft that will not turn can come from unstable supply voltage, debris inside the blade unit, motor failure, or improper pulley adjustment. Read the instruction manual before any repair. If you cannot solve the problem yourself, contact a qualified technician. Regular cleaning and checks reduce downtime and keep the slitter running.
Beyond slitter parts, our precision component customization serves more than one industry. We machine food machinery parts, medical device components, printing machinery parts, filling machinery parts, yacht precision components, RC car precision components, and tobacco packaging machinery parts. Hansheng Automation works from customer drawings and delivers one-off or batch parts to the required material, tolerance, and surface finish. Our scope is precision components, not complete machines.
