A paper machine drive system has four main modules: transmission equipment, control system, actuators, and auxiliary devices. Together they provide precise drive control for forming, pressing, drying, and reeling.

Transmission equipment

Motor system: AC variable-frequency motors are common, with power usually from 55 to 6000 kW. Synchronous motors are used where high-precision speed control is required, such as the calender and reel.

Reduction devices: Gearboxes with hard tooth surface gears, accuracy grade 5 to 6 per ISO 1328-1:2013. Couplings include elastic couplings and diaphragm couplings, plus drive shaft systems.

Braking units: Hydraulic disc brakes with maximum braking torque up to 200 kN·m, and regenerative braking energy feedback devices.

For custom gearbox housings, coupling parts, and brake components, Hansheng Automation can machine parts from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches.

Control system

PLC main station: Siemens S7-1500 series or Rockwell ControlLogix series. Processing speed is ≥0.08 μs per instruction.

Drive controllers: ABB ACS880 series with 0.01% accuracy, and Siemens S120 series with speed control accuracy of ±0.001%.

Network architecture: PROFIBUS-DP at 12 Mbps, or PROFINET IRT with a cycle time of ≤250 μs.

Detection elements: Photoelectric encoders with resolution ≥24 bit, laser speed meters with accuracy ±0.05%, and tension sensors with accuracy class 0.1.

Actuators

Variable-frequency drive groups: Multi-motor coordinated control systems use master-slave control, with following error <0.002%.

Hydraulic system: Proportional servo valves with response time ≤10 ms. Hydraulic stations with pressure control accuracy ±0.5 bar.

Pneumatic components: Precision pressure regulating valves with accuracy ±0.5% F.S. Cylinder positioning systems with repeatability ±0.1 mm.

Auxiliary devices

Lubrication system: Centralized automatic lubrication units with oil injection accuracy ±2%.

Cooling devices: Forced air cooling systems with temperature control accuracy ±1°C, and water-cooled heat exchangers.

Safety protection: Safety relays compliant with IEC 62061, and safe torque off (STO) function.

Power quality treatment: Active filters with THDi <5%, and dynamic reactive power compensation with power factor ≥0.95.

Beyond paper machine drive systems, our precision component customization covers more than one industry. We machine yacht precision components, RC car precision components, tobacco packaging machinery parts, filling machinery parts, printing machinery parts, food machinery parts, and medical device components. Hansheng Automation works from customer drawings and delivers one-off or batch parts to the required material, tolerance, and surface finish.
