A chemical fiber spinning metering pump is a core component in spinning equipment. Its structure consists of several key parts that work together to deliver melt accurately.
Base plate
The base plate supports the pump. It has precision-machined shaft holes that position the driving and driven shafts, keeping the gear transmission stable. It also includes melt inlet and outlet channels, usually made of high-temperature and corrosion-resistant materials to handle chemical fiber melt. Mounting holes secure the pump to the spinning machine frame, which reduces vibration that can affect metering accuracy.
Pump plate
The pump plate and gears form a closed working chamber. It seals against the gear faces to prevent melt from leaking from the high-pressure side to the low-pressure side during gear rotation, which maintains metering stability. The surface is often treated with cemented carbide or a special coating to resist wear from solid particles in the melt and extend service life.
Gear assembly
The gears are the core of power transmission and flow control. They include a driving gear and a driven gear. The meshing gears rotate continuously and move melt from inlet to outlet. Rotation speed and flow rate have a linear relationship. Gear tooth profile, module, and tooth surface finish must be tightly controlled to achieve low pulsation and high-precision melt delivery. This avoids filament breakage or uneven thickness.
Top plate
The top plate and base plate form a symmetrical fixed structure. The fit tolerance of the driving shaft hole in the top plate is critical. A mechanical seal or labyrinth seal prevents axial melt leakage. Under high temperature, the top plate material must match the thermal expansion coefficient of gears and shafts to avoid seal failure from deformation.
Drive sleeve
The drive sleeve acts as a safety device with two functions. It connects the drive motor to the pump driving shaft and transmits torque steadily to the gear system. If the equipment jams or torque exceeds the limit, the drive sleeve fails by shear and interrupts power. This prevents damage to gears, shafts, and other core parts.
Structural coordination
Melt enters the closed chamber formed by the pump plate and gears through the base plate inlet. As the gears rotate, melt is pushed to the outlet channel. The base plate and top plate are bolted together to form a rigid frame that resists melt pressure. The drive sleeve connects through a flexible coupling or spline. It transmits power and provides overload protection. Material selection, such as stainless steel or ceramic coating, must balance corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and high-temperature stability for different chemical fiber melts, including polyester and spandex.
For metering pump parts such as gears, plates, and drive sleeves, Hansheng Automation can machine custom components from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches.
Our precision component customization is not limited to metering pumps. We also machine medical device parts, yacht precision components, RC car precision components, printing machinery parts, food machinery parts, tobacco packaging machinery parts, and filling machinery parts. Hansheng Automation works from customer drawings and delivers one-off or batch parts to the required material, tolerance, and surface finish. Our scope is precision components, not complete machines.
