What are the motion modes of real line motors

There are three basic types of motion modes for linear motors:
1. Single axis linear motion
This is the most basic form of motion, where the motor drives the load to perform reciprocating or unidirectional motion along a single axis (X, Y, or Z axis). Its core structure usually includes a stator (magnetic track) and a rotor (coil), which directly generate thrust through the interaction between the magnetic field generated by the energized coil and the magnetic field of the permanent magnet to achieve linear drive. Widely used in high-precision positioning platforms, Pick&Place units on automated production lines, and other scenarios.
2. Multi axis combined motion
By assembling multiple single axis linear motor modules at orthogonal or other angles, a multi degree of freedom motion system can be constructed.
XY platform: composed of two orthogonal linear motors, it achieves precise trajectory motion in the plane and is commonly used in semiconductor lithography machines, laser processing equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
XYZ platform: Adding a Z-axis to the XY platform to achieve high-precision positioning in three-dimensional space, mainly used for high-end CNC machine tools, 3C product testing equipment, and sample operations in biomedicine.
The control core of a multi axis system is the multi axis motion controller, which requires kinematic calculation and trajectory interpolation between each axis to ensure synchronization and accuracy of motion.
3. Special structural movements
To meet specific application requirements, some special structures have been derived:
• Ironless U-shaped slot motion: Its coil winding does not contain an iron core, and the zero tooth slot effect is achieved through optimized magnetic field design. It has ultra smooth motion characteristics and extremely high acceleration</strong, especially suitable for precision scanning and micro positioning with extreme requirements for motion stability.
• Flat type hyperactive independent movement: Multiple independent movers can be deployed on a long stator magnetic plate. Each rotor is controlled by its own driver and can move independently and non-contact in the same plane, even performing interference free cross movement. This is an ideal technology for building flexible intelligent manufacturing production lines and sorting systems.
Arc and curve motion: By bending the stator magnetic track into a circular arc shape, the linear motor can directly drive the load for rotational motion. This "direct drive rotation" method eliminates transmission mechanisms such as screws and gears, eliminates backlash, and provides extremely high speed and dynamic response. It is commonly used in satellite antennas, radar, and robot joints.
