The main differences come down to structure, process flow, applications, and trade-offs.
Structure
A tower-type wire drawing machine uses drawing capstans arranged vertically in a tower shape. This layout helps the metal wire draw continuously as it runs through the machine.
An in-line wire drawing machine has its wheels arranged horizontally. The wire moves up and down between the wheels to complete the drawing process.
Process flow
Because of the continuous tower capstan layout, a tower-type machine can run continuous drawing and offers higher production efficiency. The wire may bend repeatedly during drawing, which can affect product quality.
An in-line machine has a simpler drawing process, but production efficiency is lower. To protect quality, adjust the wheel spacing to reduce wire bending.
Applications
Tower-type machines suit high-strength, high-hardness wire, such as spring steel and stainless steel wire.
In-line machines suit standard wire, such as copper wire and aluminum wire.
When capstans, dies, or guide wheels need replacement, we machine these precision parts from customer drawings in single pieces or small batches.
Advantages and limits
Tower-type machine:
Advantages: high production efficiency, good for high-strength and high-hardness wire.
Limits: the wire can bend during drawing, which may affect quality.
In-line machine:
Advantages: simple structure, relatively high efficiency within a specific range.
Limits: not effective for high-strength, high-hardness wire, so it fits standard wire production.
Tower-type and in-line machines differ clearly in structure, process flow, applications, and trade-offs. Choose based on your production needs and wire type.
Our precision custom machining is not limited to wire drawing machine parts. Hansheng Automation also produces non-standard components for tobacco packaging machinery, filling lines, printing equipment, medical device production equipment, food processing equipment, yacht hardware, and RC car components. We work from customer drawings for single pieces or small batches. The focus stays on precision parts machining and delivery, which keeps maintenance and replacement flexible across different industries.
