Main Principles of a Multifunctional Extraction and Concentration System

A multifunctional extraction and concentration system is mainly used for automated and efficient extraction and concentration of medicinal materials. Its core principles include the following aspects.

 

Material extraction: After medicinal materials are loaded into the extraction tank, 5 to 10 times the amount of solvent is added to meet process requirements. The heating system of the extraction tank is started and heated to boiling, usually lasting 20 to 30 minutes, to fully extract the active ingredients from the materials.

 

Efficient extraction and concentration: During the extraction process, about one-third of the extract is transferred to the concentration tank through a suction filter pipe to ensure extraction efficiency. The heating system of the concentration tank is turned on, the concentrate temperature is maintained at around 80°C, and a certain vacuum degree is maintained to promote solvent evaporation and concentration.

 

Reflux extraction with new solvent: The secondary steam generated during concentration is converted into condensate through a condenser and cooler, then returned to the extraction tank as new solvent. The new solvent flows downward through the material layer, fully dissolving the soluble components in the medicinal materials.

 

Complete dissolution and concentration: The extract is continuously drawn into the concentration tank through the suction filter pipe, and the secondary steam generated by concentration is continuously returned to the extraction tank, forming reflux extraction until the active ingredients are fully dissolved. Concentration then continues until a paste of the required density is obtained.

 

Solvent recovery and recycling: The colorless liquid in the extraction tank can be recycled for the next extraction process, improving resource utilization. For organic solvent extraction, water can be added and direct steam and jacket hot water can be turned on to recover the solvent, after which residues are discharged to reduce environmental pollution.
