How to Install a Packing Taping Machine

Installation of a packing taping machine should follow the sequence of preliminary preparation, positioning and fixing, system connection, no-load commissioning, and load acceptance. The original equipment installation manual should be referenced first, and the work should be carried out by certified professionals with proper on-site safety protection.

 

1. Preliminary Preparation

Site and foundation confirmation: Confirm the load-bearing capacity of the installation site. Small taping machines generally require at least 200 kg/m², while large models need a separately poured concrete foundation of C20 or higher with a flatness error of no more than 2 mm/m. Reserve at least 800 mm in front and behind the equipment and 600 mm on both sides for operation and maintenance, and avoid stacking materials that could block emergency stop buttons and control panels.

 

Supporting conditions: Confirm that the site has matching power supply and compressed air connections for pneumatic models. The power supply should have an independent circuit breaker, and the rated voltage and current must meet the equipment nameplate parameters. Air supply pressure should be stable at 0.5–0.7 MPa, and the pipeline should be equipped with an oil-water separator to filter impurities.

 

Lifting preparation: Equipment positioning must be carried out by certified lifting personnel using appropriately rated lifting tools. Dragging the machine body or colliding with precision transmission and sensing parts is strictly prohibited.

 

2. Equipment Positioning and Fixing

Positioning and leveling: Use a forklift or lifting equipment to place the machine smoothly in the planned position without impacting the frame. Use a high-precision spirit level to adjust the base and fine-tune with shims to keep the overall levelness error within 1 mm/m.

 

Anchor fixing: Small models can be fixed with M12 or larger expansion bolts. Large models need embedded anchor bolts according to the original manufacturer's requirements. Tightening torque must strictly follow the manufacturer's parameters to avoid base deformation or cracking from over-tightening.

 

3. System Connection

Electrical connection: Must be completed by a certified electrician according to the original wiring diagram. The grounding wire should comply with relevant low-voltage distribution design standards, with grounding resistance of no more than 4 Ω. Connect power, sensors, emergency stop buttons, and feed and discharge drive motors, and check motor phase sequence to avoid reverse rotation. Before power-on, use a multimeter to test circuit insulation and confirm there is no short circuit or leakage risk.

 

Pneumatic or hydraulic connection: Clean impurities from the air supply pipeline, use sealing tape or sealant on air fittings to prevent leakage, and adjust the air supply pressure to the specified range. Test the response of pneumatic grippers, cutters, and heat-sealing mechanisms to ensure smooth movement without jamming.

 

4. No-load Commissioning and Safety Verification

Disconnect all load wiring and run the equipment idle for 30 minutes. Observe transmission gears, motors, and bearings for abnormal noise or overheating, and confirm that all motion axes run smoothly.

 

Trigger emergency stop buttons and limit switches to test safety protection response speed and effectiveness, confirming that the equipment can cut off power output immediately.

 

Adjust core parameters such as taping tension, cutter position, and heat-sealing temperature to the original manufacturer's recommended initial values.

 

5. Load Acceptance and Final Work

Connect the carrier tape and cover tape, and conduct continuous trial packing of more than 100 reels. Check whether pocket forming, sealing strength, and cutting accuracy meet production requirements.

 

Re-tighten all connectors and pipe fittings, and clean tools and debris from the site.

 

Organize commissioning records and hand over the equipment operation manual and initial parameter list to on-site operators.
