Replacing the shaft on a pouch packaging machine is a step that matters. Done correctly, the machine runs smoothly. Done incorrectly, it affects overall performance.

 

Preparation

Measure first. Check the length, shaft diameter, keyway position, and step dimensions of both the original shaft and the new one, and confirm the new shaft matches the original. Inspect the new shaft for dents and rust, and check for burrs at the journals. Avoid striking the shaft ends during transport. Move it next to the machine and set it aside for replacement.

 

Installing the new shaft

Place the new shaft into the sliding seat and secure it with a hex wrench. Then fit the pin that supports the shaft. The shaft is only firmly fixed once the pin is in place. Tighten in a diagonal sequence in stages rather than all at once, so the shaft bearing does not load unevenly. We can machine replacement shafts to customer drawings, with material, heat treatment, and tolerance specified by the drawing, for single pieces or small batches.

 

Post-installation check

Check that the shaft is firmly fixed and turns without binding or abnormal noise. Then apply insulation treatment to keep the machine running correctly and reduce safety risks from excessive clearance. Run the machine without load first, and confirm nothing is abnormal before returning to production.
