Semiconductor and PCB production both use tunnel furnaces and ovens for heating. The equipment can look similar, but the parts being processed and the process requirements are different, so the design differences are clear.
Applications and accuracy
In PCB production, tunnel furnaces and ovens handle solder mask curing, plugging material drying, and similar steps. They process larger boards. Temperature variation of about ±3°C is usually enough. The focus is stable output in batch production.
In semiconductor production, ovens mainly dry and anneal chips, wafers, and other precision devices. Temperature accuracy must be tighter, within ±1°C. Some cases require ±0.5°C. Cleanliness requirements are also high, often Class 100 or better, to keep particles from contaminating devices.
Process design
PCB tunnel furnaces mostly use air circulation for heating. Some need humidity control. The conveyor system must carry boards steadily and handle continuous drying for PCBs of different thicknesses. Hansheng Automation can machine custom conveyor components, heat-resistant fixtures, and structural parts for PCB tunnel furnaces from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches.
Semiconductor ovens often use nitrogen or other inert gas to prevent oxidation. The transfer system is more precise to avoid vibration damage to devices. Airflow inside the chamber is also controlled more strictly to prevent uneven temperature from affecting chip performance.
Equipment integration
PCB tunnel furnaces and ovens need to work with upstream steps such as plugging and screen printing. Drying parameters can be adjusted based on ink buildup after PCB plugging.
Semiconductor ovens need to work with lithography, packaging, and other high-precision steps. Temperature control response speed must be higher.
Beyond the equipment discussed above, our precision component customization covers more than one industry. We machine filling machinery parts, medical device components, yacht precision components, RC car precision components, tobacco packaging machinery parts, food machinery parts, and printing machinery parts. Hansheng Automation works from customer drawings and delivers one-off or batch parts to the required material, tolerance, and surface finish. Our scope is precision components, not complete machines.
