Both are tunnel-type drying and curing systems. Their designs differ because their applications differ.

Applications

An LED packaging tunnel furnace serves LED lamp and LED display packaging. It handles encapsulant curing, phosphor drying, and solder reflow.

A PCB tunnel furnace serves printed circuit board production. It handles solder mask curing, legend printing drying, and drying after copper plating.

Temperature requirements

LED packaging is highly temperature sensitive. LED chips are semiconductor devices. High temperatures can damage chips or cause lumen decay. Operating temperature generally stays below 150°C. Zone control must be tight, with temperature variation held within ±3°C.

PCB tunnel furnaces have looser temperature requirements. Solder mask curing usually runs at 150 to 180°C. Legend drying runs at 80 to 120°C. Temperature variation accuracy is less critical.

Cleanliness requirements

LED packaging is an electronic packaging process. The workshop needs high cleanliness. The furnace interior often needs Class 10,000 or even Class 1,000 cleanliness to keep dust off LED surfaces and protect light output.

PCB tunnel furnaces need much lower cleanliness. Class 100,000 is usually enough.

Conveyor belts and carriers

LED packaging tunnel furnaces often use Teflon mesh belts or stainless steel chains. LED products are small and light, so transfer must be stable. Some processes also require curing under nitrogen protection to prevent LED pin oxidation.

PCB tunnel furnaces use stainless steel mesh belts or PTFE mesh belts. PCBs are heavier and larger, so the belt must carry more weight.

Hansheng Automation can machine custom conveyor components, fixtures, and heat-resistant carriers for both furnace types from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches.

Exhaust systems

LED packaging produces few glue volatiles, so exhaust demand is not high.

When a PCB tunnel furnace dries solder mask ink, it releases a large amount of organic solvent. It needs a strong exhaust system and waste gas treatment equipment.

Summary

An LED packaging tunnel furnace focuses on high-precision temperature control and high cleanliness. A PCB tunnel furnace focuses on high-volume exhaust and chemical corrosion resistance. Selection must match the specific process. The two cannot be mixed.

Beyond the parts discussed above, our precision component customization covers more than one industry. We machine filling machinery parts, medical device components, yacht precision components, RC car precision components, tobacco packaging machinery parts, food machinery parts, and printing machinery parts. Hansheng Automation works from customer drawings and delivers one-off or batch parts to the required material, tolerance, and surface finish. Our scope is precision components, not complete machines.
