Hardware stamping uses a press and dies to deform or fracture sheet and special-section materials such as stainless steel, iron, aluminum, and copper. This gives the required shape and size. It is easy to operate, efficient, and suitable for mechanization and automation. It is an important process in hardware manufacturing. The process is as follows.
Process steps
1. Material preparation
Different products need different die materials. Select die material by product features, such as die shank, upper cover plate, upper punch clamp, stripper plate, lower die plate, backing plate, and base plate.
We can machine die shank, upper cover plate, upper punch clamp, stripper plate, lower die plate, backing plate, and base plate from customer drawings, in single pieces or small batches. Hansheng Automation works to drawing dimensions and assembly clearances.
2. Rough machining
After selecting material, use a milling machine for initial machining of flat and side surfaces. Common parts include punch clamp plate, stripper plate, lower die plate, backing plate, base plate, upper cover plate, and ejector plate.
3. Fine machining
Use a grinder to machine flat surfaces and square the four corners. Grind flat and square the punch clamp plate, stripper plate, lower die plate, and backing plate. Grind flat the base plate and upper cover plate.
4. Layout marking
Place the die plates that have been fine machined and squared on a layout table. According to the die drawing, use a height gauge to mark lines. After marking, center punch, drill, and tap.
5. Heat treatment
Lower die plates and blocks that need heat treatment go through high-temperature quenching, tempering, conditioning, and annealing. Then finish machine them. Grind flat and square the plates, then wire cut.
6. Assembly and trial run
Use a die set or matching guide posts and guide bushings to assemble the die. Install the assembled die on a stamping press and run trial stamping. Measure the stamped parts to confirm they meet product requirements. This completes the stamping process.
Our precision parts machining service is not limited to hardware stamping dies. Hansheng Automation can machine custom parts from drawings for medical device parts, food packaging machinery parts, printing machinery parts, and textile machinery parts. We also cover yacht precision fittings, RC car structural parts, tobacco packaging machinery parts, and filling machinery parts. Single pieces and small batches are both available, with attention to material, tolerance, surface finish, and assembly fit.
