Sealing machines can be classified according to whether they use sealing materials and whether auxiliary sealing materials are involved.
Main Categories
Sealing machines without sealing materials
These include heat-press, cold-press, fusion-weld, plug-in, and folding types.
Sealing machines with sealing materials
These include screw-capping, thread-rolling, edge-curling, and press-fitting types.
Sealing machines with auxiliary sealing materials
These include tape, adhesive, stapling, tying, and stitching types.
Detailed Types
Screw Capping Machine
The cap is pre-formed with internal threads, which may be single-start or multi-start. For example, medicine bottles often use single-start threads, while canning jars commonly use multi-start threads. The machine rotates the cap and presses it tightly onto the container mouth.
Thread Rolling Sealing Machine
This type uses aluminum caps that initially have no threads. Rollers press the aluminum cap so that threads identical to the bottle mouth profile are formed, sealing the container. When opened, the cap breaks along the scored skirt and cannot be restored, so it is also called a tamper-evident cap. This machine is widely used for high-end liquor and beverage packaging.
The rolling wheels and forming rollers in these machines must precisely match the bottle neck profile and are subject to continuous wear. Hansheng Automation can custom-machine such components according to customer drawings or samples.
Edge Curling Sealing Machine
A cylindrical metal cap is first placed over the bottle mouth. Rollers then press the bottom edge inward so that it deforms and locks tightly onto the flange of the bottle mouth. This machine is often used for wide-mouth canning jars.
Crown Cap Sealing Machine
This machine is specifically designed for crown caps used on beer, soda, and other beverages. The crown cap is placed on the bottle mouth, and the capping die presses downward. The corrugated edge of the crown cap is squeezed inward and grips the neck flange, creating a mechanical interlock between the cap and the bottle mouth.
Plug Sealing Machine
The sealing material is a plug made of rubber, plastic, cork, or another elastic material. The plug relies on its own elastic deformation to seal the bottle mouth. During operation, the plug is positioned above the bottle mouth and pressed vertically into the opening. Plug sealing can be used alone or in combination with a cap.
Seam Sealing Machine
This machine is mainly used for sealing metal food cans. Rollers curl, hook, and press the periphery of the can lid and the can body flange together to form a tight seam and achieve hermetic sealing.
