The tongue piece blank is roughed on our advanced CNC machining centers. Following heat treatment, the internal channel contour - the most dimensionally critical feature - is finish-ground in a single setup to eliminate datum transfer errors. For customers requiring minimal surface friction, our ultra-mirror grinding process achieves a surface finish of Ra ≤ 0.1 μm on the channel profile, reducing paper-drag forces and extending the service interval of the garniture tape.
Premium Material & Heat Treatment
Manufactured from premium AISI D2 (DIN 1.2379) high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel, the component undergoes vacuum heat treatment and multiple tempering cycles to achieve a uniform through-hardness of 58–62 HRC prior to final grinding.
Wire EDM for Complex Profiles
Narrow keyways, relief slots, and complex cross-sectional features that cannot be generated by rotary cutting are processed on our Seibu M50B Wire EDM.
