The first Siemens Sustainable Development Forum was held today in Shanghai. The forum focuses on digital technology and applications, with the theme of "unlimited development through transformation", actively promoting sustainable development driven by technological innovation and open ecology. Siemens announced multiple measures during the forum: officially releasing Siemens EcoTech statement for the Chinese market; First appearance at the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Technology, Products and Achievements Expo (hereinafter referred to as the "Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo"); Release the "Siemens China Zero Carbon Pioneer Partner Project" and launch the 2024 Siemens Xcelerator Open. This forum also includes multiple sub forums and activities such as co building sustainable infrastructure, driving sustainable manufacturing, and Siemens Supplier Sustainable Development Day.

Injecting New Energy into Sustainable Development through Technological Innovation

As a technology company that drives innovation, Siemens continues to accelerate the application and innovation of cutting-edge technologies in the industry, empowering Chinese enterprises to enhance innovation and productivity. During the forum, Judith Wiese, a member of the board of directors and Chief Talent and Sustainable Development Officer of Siemens AG, announced that he will officially release the Siemens EcoTech statement for the Chinese market.

Siemens EcoTech strictly adheres to ecological design standards, including Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) data, and evaluates and declares the full lifecycle performance of products from three dimensions: sustainable materials, optimized use, value recovery, and recycling. Siemens provides comparable environmental performance information covering raw materials, product design, product use, and end-of-life stages for all Siemens products holding EcoTech declarations, in order to achieve higher data transparency. Siemens EcoTech will cover a range of Siemens infrastructure and industrial product combinations, and will gradually expand to other Siemens related products that meet this standard. All products with Siemens EcoTech declaration are manufactured in facilities that use 100% renewable energy electricity, which will help the company achieve its own net zero emissions target for operation by 2030.

"The launch of Siemens EcoTech marks another important progress in expanding Siemens' impact on sustainable development." Judith Wiese said, "Siemens EcoTech comprehensively and systematically evaluates the full lifecycle performance of products based on ecological design standards, effectively promotes information transparency, enables customers to make informed decisions, and drives sustainable development in the value chain. By providing necessary knowledge and technology, Siemens fully supports customers in achieving sustainable development goals. In the future, we hope that sustainability can become a core element of Siemens' products."

At the same time, Siemens made its debut at the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo, showcasing its numerous digital and low-carbon innovation achievements on the Siemens Xcelerator platform, further demonstrating Siemens' technological leadership in empowering sustainable development in various industries with digital technology.

The Siemens Smart ECX intelligent carbon management platform is an important product of Siemens that promotes enterprise carbon reduction through technology. It relies on new generation digital technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and artificial intelligence to collect and store enterprise energy and carbon emission data, combined with embedded energy system energy consumption models and business applications, to achieve functions such as carbon data visualization and analysis, carbon emission inventory, and carbon emission reduction planning, helping enterprises achieve low-carbon transformation. The platform has multiple excellent application cases, among which the online carbon verification function has helped Suzhou Siemens Electrical Co., Ltd. (SEAT) and Beijing Siemens Xibeles Electronics Co., Ltd. (BSCE) efficiently and accurately complete the organizational carbon emissions and product carbon footprint verification work. Compared to traditional offline verification, it can save 50% of verification time and reduce costs. The verification results are traceable and reusable. At the booth, DEKRA will issue the "2023 Organizational Carbon Emission Verification Statement" and Desigo Essentials to the two factories respectively ® ELC.E14 Controller Carbon Footprint Verification Statement.

West Carbon Traces - SiGREEN platform base and carbon footprint ecological solutions (hereinafter referred to as "West Carbon Traces") are based on blockchain, industrial edge computing and other technologies, and Siemens builds a rich portfolio of carbon footprint ecological applications and solutions for different groups and scenarios. The opening ceremony of the Siemens West Carbon Track Xinwangda Battery Passport Digital Platform cooperation was held at the exhibition site. This is another deepening cooperation after the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two parties at the 2023 CIIE, which can further promote the implementation of carbon footprint solutions for lithium battery industry products. This project will help Xinwangda achieve actuarial, traceability, and transparency of its product carbon footprint, as well as international carbon footprint certification, to calmly respond to the requirements of the EU's new battery law, and to safeguard the green export of its battery products. Siemens has also established deep cooperation and signed a contract with Hegang Digital Technology Co., Ltd. to empower the metallurgical industry to accelerate its green and low-carbon transformation, and to assist China's high-quality steel exports to the sea.

Creating a new chapter of sustainable development through an open ecosystem

Siemens has always been committed to promoting the green and low-carbon transformation of Chinese enterprises through an open ecosystem. On the day of the forum, the "Siemens China Zero Carbon Pioneer Partner Project" was officially launched. With this project, Siemens will further leverage the power of ecology to work together with all parties, tap into potential, expand influence, and achieve win-win cooperation. The second Zero Carbon Pioneer Award, as one of the important actions of the Siemens China Zero Carbon Pioneer Partner Project, has been launched simultaneously and widely solicited the participation of enterprises, aiming to help accelerate sustainable development of the Chinese industry through advanced technology, knowledge empowerment, and financial services from multiple dimensions.

"The green and low-carbon transformation is a historic window for high-quality development of enterprises, facing numerous uncertainties; and digital technology is another determination to accelerate this transformation." Dr. Xiao Song, President and CEO of Siemens Greater China, said, "As a pioneer, practitioner, and enabler, Siemens is willing to use the 'dual wheel drive' of digitization and low-carbon to actively work with partners to promote sustainable development to a deeper and more practical level."

During the forum, Siemens announced the official launch of the 2024 Siemens Xcelerator Open to further strengthen its ecological influence. This competition is hosted by Siemens and co organized by Puyue China, with Alibaba Cloud as the cloud technology partner for the competition. The aim is to fully leverage the platform network effect, stimulate the potential of innovation ecology, and achieve and empower the new generation of digital and low-carbon transformation service providers. The open competition will be guided by typical scenarios of intelligent manufacturing by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, combined with cutting-edge technological trends and business development needs, focusing on three innovative propositions: "Industrial Metaverse", "Future New Infrastructure", and "New formats and models", to develop innovative solutions with originality and application value. The competition will last from June to September 2024, and the selected winning team will have the opportunity to join the Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem partner "Fanxing Plan". The solution will be selected and launched on the Siemens Xcelerator platform, and will be promoted and applied.

Siemens also unveiled an innovative international carbon footprint online certification joint solution based on the Western Carbon footprint, jointly created with Siemens Xcelerator's ecological partner T Ü V South Germany Group (hereinafter referred to as T Ü V South Germany) at the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo. This certification service is based on AI based carbon emission factor matching, which will help customers significantly improve the efficiency of carbon footprint verification and empower them to meet the multi scenario needs of customer supply chain carbon data exchange and supply chain management. At present, the solution has been launched on the Siemens Xcelerator platform.

In addition, Siemens also provides customized financing services covering the entire value chain for its ecological partners, empowering their business growth and supporting more enterprises, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, in their low-carbon transformation.
