On December 8, the 2024 Fujian Provincial College Student Robot Competition and Cross-Strait College Student Robot Competition and Engineering Education Exchange Conference was held at Xiamen University, attracting more than 600 people from more than 20 schools on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, including teachers and students, experts and scholars, and representatives of science and technology enterprises.
This year's competition set up a total of 6 tracks, including infantry robot racing, intelligent navigation and sorting robots, smart campus ROS robots, intelligent robot cruising competitions, machine vision and system innovation and basketball robot simulation competitions, these tracks not only cover a number of cutting-edge fields of robotics, but also closely combine industrial real scenarios and practical application needs, focusing on testing students' innovation ability and practical level. In the competition, the participating teams showed excellent technical strength and teamwork ability, and many teams from Xiamen University, Quanzhou University of Information Engineering, Putian University, Kinmen University and other teams stood out and won the award.
Yan Desheng, assistant professor of the Faculty of Engineering Office and Global Society Center of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, said that the competition set up a number of challenging tracks to allow participants to integrate the knowledge and skills of different majors in practice, mobilize innovative thinking, emphasize team communication and collaboration, and jointly explore solutions, which fully reflects the value of interdisciplinary cooperation between college students on both sides of the strait in solving real-world problems. Lv Boxiang, a member of the Golden Gate University team, said that through the competition, they not only learned a lot of robot-related knowledge and skills, but also made many like-minded friends, and looked forward to more such activities in the future.
The competition was sponsored by the Fujian Provincial Department of Education, undertaken by Xiamen University, and co-organized by Kinmen University.
