Joe Tegtmeyer, an independent observer who has long tracked developments at the Texas factory, has confirmed via drone imagery that Tesla has recently centralized a large number of castings on the periphery of the factory that are distinctly different from the Model Y and Cybertruck parts. These parts, which utilize monoblock casting technology, are highly compatible with the Unboxed production process that Tesla plans to use for the Cybercab. The process can increase productivity to one vehicle off the line every five seconds by streamlining the production process and consolidating hundreds of parts from traditional automotive manufacturing into a handful of large castings.
Notably, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed at the Q1 2025 all-hands meeting that the Cybercab line will disrupt the traditional automotive manufacturing model, with a design that more closely resembles a high-speed consumer electronics production line, where workers can't even get close to the equipment in operation. This innovation will not only dramatically reduce production costs, but will also support Cybercab's goal of producing 2 million vehicles per year.

Meanwhile, Tesla's Robotaxi service launched its first trial operations in Austin on June 23, with the first 10 modified Model Ys put to the test.As the Robotaxi network expands, the Cybercab is expected to launch prototype road tests this summer as an exclusive model and gradually replace existing test vehicles, according to the analysis. The steering wheel-less, pedal-less two-seat model, with its efficient design of 50kWh battery to achieve a range of nearly 500km, is becoming the core vehicle for Tesla's Autopilot commercialization.
On the supply chain front, although Tesla's previous key supplier, TEI, was acquired by General Motors, the large-scale stockpile of castings from the Texas factory shows that Tesla has secured capacity through diversified partnerships.Industry insiders point out that as Cybercab mass production approaches, suppliers with high-precision casting capabilities will usher in market opportunities.
