Recently, ABB Robotics launched the new IRB 7710 and IRB 7720, expanding its large robot series products. These two new robots, along with the recently launched IRB 5710-IRB 5720 and IRB 6710-IRB 6740 series, have a total of 46 different models with a payload range from 70 kg to 620 kg, bringing unprecedented flexibility and more robot options. The superior equipment performance will also fully assist customers in production and operation.
Ma Sikang, Global President of ABB Robotics Business Unit, said that as companies introduce new technologies and equipment to improve productivity and achieve sustainable development goals, we have designed a series of modular large-scale robot products to provide customers with more suitable robot selection and help them efficiently carry out their business. With the most comprehensive product portfolio in the market: mechatronics platforms, industrial robots, collaborative robots, and autonomous mobile robots (AMR), our new series of large-scale robot products further expands our product line, helping customers solve labor shortages and maintain market competitiveness in a sustainable business model.
The new ABB IRB 7710 and IRB 7720 robots come in 16 models and can be widely used in different industries. Users can choose the ideal model from a wide range of product lines to handle various applications in the production of electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and traditional cars, including stamping, white body, tram battery assembly, and vehicle assembly. These robots are particularly suitable for high load assembly applications (such as integrated die-casting technology, high-speed punching machines, and palletizing), as well as applications that require high precision (such as mechanical processing and friction stir welding).
Adopting OmniCore ™ The new type of robot with control technology can achieve first-class motion control even when multiple robots are running at a speed of up to 1600 millimeters per second and a load weighing 620 kilograms, with path accuracy accurate to 0.6 millimeters. The beat time has been reduced by 25%, further improving productivity and quality.
In the automotive industry, the new IRB 7710 robot equipped with OmniCore controller, combined with dedicated functional application modules for stamping automation, can increase the output of the robot stamping production line from 12 strokes per minute to 15 strokes per minute, producing 900 parts per hour. In addition, in the construction industry, new robots will promote the development of modular construction, improve the speed and quality of steel structure building frame construction and surface treatment.
The energy-saving design of IRB 7710, combined with OmniCore's regeneration technology, can save up to 30% of energy consumption [1], and the built-in power pack can return excess energy to the grid.
