On April 28, 2022, at the 19th Global Analyst Conference, Huawei released the industry's first 5G indoor positioning commercial solution. This solution solves engineering challenges such as difficult positioning and increased beacon deployment in complex scenarios, and can provide accurate positioning capabilities of 1-3 meters @ 90%. At the same time, by opening standardized interfaces, it effectively supports the integration of industry applications and provides enterprises with highly reliable, secure, and differentiated local deployment of 5G positioning end-to-end solutions, injecting new momentum into 5G empowerment of industry digitization.
5G positioning is released in 3GPP R16 version, with an indoor positioning accuracy target of 3 meters @ 80%. Huawei's 5G indoor positioning solution has been piloted and validated in multiple industries such as manufacturing, warehousing, and transportation. The positioning accuracy can reach LOS (Line of Sight) 1-3 meters @ 90%, which is better than the 3GPP target and meets the positioning needs of most applications in the industry for personnel, equipment, and materials. It will continue to evolve with 3GPP standards and provide sub meter level positioning in the future to meet the industry's demand for higher precision positioning
Huawei's 5G indoor positioning solution includes a wireless LampSite EE (Enterprise Edition) and a resident 5G core network LCS (Location Service) module. Third party positioning platforms or applications provide positioning services to enterprises through standardized open interfaces with the core network LCS. This solution provides three positioning technologies: UTDOA (Uplink Time Difference of Arrival), wireless fingerprint, and field strength, to meet the positioning requirements of LOS and NLOS in different scenarios. Huawei has achieved automatic generation of positioning fingerprint libraries and UTDOA positioning without beacon delay correction through two innovative technologies: RadioSLAM (Radio Simulatenus Localization and Mapping) and AI big data clustering delay correction algorithm, solving the two major promotion difficulties of manual fingerprint collection and beacon deployment.
