Recently, the National Robot Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC591) officially released the national standard "Technical Requirements for Robot Adaptive Ability" (GB/T 44589-2024), which stipulates the technical requirements for the adaptive ability of the robot at the force control level, and is suitable for the technical development, testing and evaluation of the robot adaptive ability at the force control level, and other types of adaptive ability are used as references.

The standard is drafted by Beijing Machinery Industry Automation Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Feixi Robot Technology Co., Ltd., and 28 units such as domestic mainstream robot manufacturers and scientific research institutes in related fields jointly participate, and is the first national standard for the technical requirements of robot adaptive ability in China.

"This standard defines the adaptive ability of robots for the first time, and elaborates on its technical requirements, which is the basic standard for another subdivision after industrial robots and collaborative robots." Hu Xiaoping, vice president of Feixi Technology, said that before this, there was no technical standard for the adaptive ability of robots at home and abroad, and after the release of the standard, it will fill the gap in the field of standards and promote the construction of the domestic robot standard system.

Before the emergence of this standard, there are only two standards for the force control and flexible requirements of robots in China, namely the "Technical Specifications for Force Control of Industrial Robots" and the "Technical Requirements for Flexible Control of Industrial Robots".

According to the information on the website of the National Standards Committee, the standard believes that the adaptive ability of the robot refers to the ability of the robot to complete the work task in the way of force and position collaborative control in non-structural chemical conditions. That is, through the identification and analysis of operating objects, environments and tasks, adaptive adjustment and control are carried out to complete complex operations.

Specifically, the robot needs to meet the standard requirements in terms of posture perception components, force perception components, posture control components, and force control components. At the same time, the standard proposes that the adaptive ability of the robot needs to meet the standard in three aspects, namely, the ability to compensate for the deviation of position, the ability to resist interference, and the ability to generalize tasks.

Among them, the pose deviation compensation ability is adaptive to the operating object, that is, when there is a deviation between the actual pose of the robot end effector and the expected pose of the task, the maximum allowable deviation value of the robot to complete the expected task. The anti-interference capability corresponds to environmental adaptation, which means that even in the presence of external interference, the robot has the ability to offset or adapt to the interference and complete the expected task. The task generalization capability is the ability to quickly deploy in other similar scenarios and autonomously complete similar tasks on the premise that the robot can complete a certain task.

Throughout the standard, the test methods and capability evaluations of the robot's adaptive capability requirements are also attached in detail. In this part, the test preparation, test steps, evaluation methods, ability levels, technical indicators, and level evaluation of the robot's adaptive ability are described in detail.

"In the process of compiling and consulting materials, we found that there has been no written standard for the adaptive ability of robots at home and abroad, or even has not been defined. Through this standard, it shows the industry's recognition of the concept of adaptive robots that Feixi has been advocating. Hu Xiaoping said that this standard has opened a new route for the adaptive ability requirements of robots, which is equivalent to opening up a new direction for adaptive robots in the entire robot industry, and the ability requirements of adaptive robots in the future can go to the standard.

In addition to filling the gaps in the standard requirements for robot adaptability, the standard is actually a supplement to the existing robot standards. At the same time, there has been no unified requirement for the technical bottleneck of the robot's adaptive ability, the inconsistent description, and the lack of relevant standards at home and abroad. Therefore, the formulation of this standard can promote the development of robot adaptive ability technology and accelerate the process of "making up for shortcomings" of domestic high-end robots.

In addition, the standard was written at the time of release that the release of the standard can promote the development and application of robot adaptive ability technology, and then drive the high-quality development of industrial fields such as the mid-to-high-end robot industry and intelligent manufacturing transformation and upgrading, and promote the innovative application of robot adaptive technology in medical, agricultural, logistics, service, scientific research and other industries, broaden the application boundaries of robots, promote the landing and commercialization of advanced automation applications in multiple industries and scenarios, generate new application models and formats, and cultivate new growth points of the national economy.

"National standards can not only regulate the market, but also lead industry innovation. It is believed that the formulation of this standard can allow more people in the industry to join the industry of developing robot adaptive capabilities, promote the upgrading of robot technology capabilities, and effectively promote the construction of new quality productivity. Hu Xiaoping said.
