CNOOC's First Offshore Photovoltaic Building Integration Project Put Into Operation

Recently, on the largest shallow water floating production, storage, and unloading device in China, the "Fenghuang", more than 100 photovoltaic panels broke free from the magnetic field and began to flow. They use light as a medium to go green, and can provide nearly 90000 kilowatt hours of "green electricity" every year.

It is reported that the "Prosperity" solar power generation project is another "green power" grid connected power generation demonstration project in Penglai Oilfield, following the implementation of China National Offshore Oil Corporation's first mixed flow pipeline hydroelectric power generation project last year. It is also China National Offshore Oil Corporation's first and largest offshore photovoltaic building integration project to date. Photovoltaic building integration is a technology that integrates solar power generation products as part of a building.

Unlike solar photovoltaic power generation systems attached to buildings, photovoltaic building integrated photovoltaic modules have two major functions: green power production and building materials. The implementation of the "Fenghuang" solar power generation project can not only enable photovoltaic modules to have building functions such as rain and sun protection, thermal insulation, and noise isolation in offshore facilities, but also fully utilize limited space to further promote the widespread use of distributed green and clean energy.

It is understood that there are six high-voltage power transformers distributed on the roof of a sled of the "Flourishing" ship, providing electricity for key equipment in processes such as low and medium pressure machines and production water injection booster pumps. The top of the device and the D-floor of the living area have added solar photovoltaic panels on the side, fully leveraging the comparative advantages of photovoltaic building integration, green energy conservation, material conservation, and space resources. The project consists of 147 single silicon crystal double-sided double glass high-efficiency components, 2 inverters, 1 grid connected cabinet, etc., with an installation area of approximately 320 square meters. The project adopts a "block based power generation and centralized grid connection" approach, enjoying the "sunshine benefits". It can generate 92100 kilowatt hours of green electricity annually, with peak electricity supply for over a thousand fluorescent lamps. It can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 81 tons per year, and has significant energy-saving and emission reduction benefits.

The application of the "Prosperity" photovoltaic building integration project provides reference for the subsequent development of solar power generation projects. As of now, the solar power generation project in Penglai Oilfield has a cumulative installed area of about 800 square meters and can generate over 470 kilowatt hours of green electricity per day.
