On August 20th, according to foreign media reports, after investing $1.25 billion and $2.75 billion respectively in Anthropic, an artificial intelligence startup, in September last year and March this year, fulfilling their promise to invest up to $4 billion, Amazon is still investing in artificial intelligence. They have reached an agreement with Xperi to acquire Perceive, a chip manufacturing and AI model compression company under the latter.

The agreement between Amazon and Xperi to acquire Perceive was disclosed by Xperi in a document submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission last Friday.
According to the documents submitted by Xperi, they have reached an asset purchase agreement with Amazon. Amazon will purchase Perceive from them for $80 million, and the transaction will be conducted entirely in cash.
Although an asset purchase agreement was reached, Amazon's acquisition of Perceive from Xperi also requires certain conditions, including specific regulatory requirements. They plan to complete the relevant transaction before the end of this year.
The documents submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission also show that Perceive, which Amazon plans to purchase, is a company in which Xperi holds 76.2% of the equity.
According to foreign media reports, Xperi has been planning to sell Perceive for some time now, and they have been searching for suitable buyers for Perceive since the beginning of this year.
As a company specializing in chip manufacturing and AI model compression, Perceive excels in providing large-scale artificial intelligence models for edge devices. Currently, it has 44 employees, most of whom are expected to join Amazon after the acquisition. (Sea Blue)
