Why do motors need to be equipped with reducers, and what is the function of reducers?

A reducer is actually a power transmission mechanism that does not generate power itself. Its function is to use gears of different sizes and speed converters to reduce the number of revolutions of an electric motor (motor) to the desired number of revolutions and obtain a larger torque. Can't we just adjust the speed of the motor?

Actually, it's not like that. The motor is directly connected to the equipment, and when the equipment is running, the load on the motor is very large, which can cause significant damage to the motor. However, after passing through a reducer, it's different. For example, for a reducer with a reduction ratio of 100, the speed ratio of the reducer is equal to the input speed/output speed.

If the speed ratio is 100, the output torque is approximately 100 times the input torque. When the speed slows down and the torque increases, the load on the motor during machine operation is only one percent. Moreover, if the gearbox is broken, simply replace the gear, which is much lower in cost compared to the motor.

A reducer is also a type of gearbox, but generally a gearbox is used for deceleration and is commonly referred to as a reducer; The general gearbox has a fixed transmission ratio, and there are also adjustable ones, but they are generally graded speed regulation.

It is easy for people to think that cars have a variable speed reducer, so cars have several gears. The gasoline engine (diesel engine) is like an electric motor, and the throttle speed can be changed, but the range of change is not large.

A reducer is a relatively precise mechanical device used to reduce speed and increase torque. It has a wide variety of types, different models, and different types have different purposes. According to the transmission type, it can be divided into gear reducers, worm gear reducers, and planetary gear reducers; According to the different transmission stages, it can be divided into single-stage and multi-stage reducers.

Among the mechanisms currently used for transmitting power and motion, the application range of reducers is quite extensive. The application of reducers can be seen from the transmission of large power to small loads and precise angle transmission. In industrial applications, reducers have the functions of reducing speed and increasing torque.

The main functions of a reducer are:

1) Reduce speed while increasing output torque. The torque output ratio should be calculated by multiplying the motor output by the reduction ratio, but it should be noted that it should not exceed the rated torque of the gearbox

2) Deceleration also reduces the inertia of the load.
