A cigarette rolling machine may fail to fill tobacco for several reasons. Troubleshooting should be based on the specific situation. Common causes and solutions are as follows.
Usage and Operation Problems
Incorrect operation: Beginners may fail to fill tobacco because of insufficient force or a wrong angle. Follow the instruction manual strictly and practice until the operation is correct.
Wrong rolling paper position: If the rolling paper is not placed correctly or the tobacco is not pressed firmly, rolling will fail. Position the rolling paper properly and compress the tobacco so it can be rolled into the cigarette tube smoothly.
Cleaning and Maintenance Problems
Insufficient cleaning: Long-term lack of cleaning or accumulated dirt can block tobacco filling. Clean the cigarette rolling machine thoroughly and remove impurities and residue.
Mechanical wear: After more than 200 hours of use, the feed auger may develop clearance due to wear, causing poor tobacco delivery. Check mechanical parts and replace worn parts in time.
Tobacco Condition Problems
Tobacco too dry: Insufficient moisture can cause tobacco fibers to break and make filling difficult. Improve it by adding moisture, sealing it for storage, or using a moisture-retaining bag.
Tobacco too wet: Damp tobacco tends to clump and affects rolling. Dry it in a ventilated, dry place, or spread it loosely and let it sit for 10 minutes to remove clumps.
Poor tobacco flowability: Dry tobacco easily jams in the hopper, while wet tobacco feeds unevenly. Adjust the tobacco to a loose and uniform condition before loading it into the hopper.
Accessory and Material Problems
Poor quality rolling paper: Low-quality rolling paper tears easily and causes filling failure. Choose high-quality branded rolling paper.
Filter tip too long: An overly long filter tip takes up space and prevents the cigarette from being filled completely. Use a shorter filter tip.
Rolling paper too thick: Thick rolling paper reduces filling space. Replace it with thinner rolling paper.
Equipment Adjustment and Fault Problems
Improper hopper adjustment: If the discharge baffle opening is too small or the installation is tilted, tobacco delivery will be insufficient. Adjust the opening in small steps, 1/4 turn each time, and test 3–5 cigarettes to observe the result.
Abnormal air pressure: If the pneumatic system pressure of an electric cigarette rolling machine is insufficient, the pushing device cannot compact the tobacco. Check the pressure gauge and make sure the pressure is normal.
Cigarette tube fault: If the above methods do not work, the cigarette tube may be damaged. Replace it with a new one to restore function.
For cigarette rolling machine manufacturers and maintenance teams, Hansheng Automation can machine non-standard parts from customer drawings, such as feed augers, hopper baffles, push rods, and tube holders, in single pieces or small batches.
