A strip insertion and notching machine inserts thermal break strips into aluminum profiles and cuts notches at the same time. It is used for thermal break aluminum profiles. The parts fall into four groups: power transmission, machining, positioning and clamping, and auxiliary parts. Hansheng Automation machines replacement and custom parts for this equipment from customer drawings, including one-off and small-batch runs.
Power transmission parts
Core power parts
Main motor: Y series three-phase asynchronous motor. Rated power runs from 2.2 kW to 7.5 kW depending on processing width. It provides the basic power for the machine.
Reducer: cycloidal pinwheel reducer or hardened gear reducer. Reduction ratio ranges from 1:20 to 1:50. It lowers output speed and raises torque. It drives the notching roller set and the strip insertion mechanism.
Transmission connections
Timing belt or V-belt: transfers power from the main motor to the reducer. High precision models often use timing belts for accuracy. Standard models can use V-belts.
Drive sprockets and roller chain: transfers power from the reducer to the notching roller shaft and the strip feed conveyor. Select the pitch based on the drive torque.
Machining parts
Notching roller set
Drive notching roller: the surface has a custom serrated tooth profile. Tooth pitch is usually 2.5 mm to 5 mm. Tooth height is 0.8 mm to 1.2 mm. It rotates to mill interlocking teeth on both sides of the thermal break strip mounting groove in aluminum profiles. This raises the bond strength between the strip and the profile.
Driven notching roller: works with the drive roller to press the profile. It turns in sync to keep the notching pattern uniform.
Strip insertion mechanism
Strip insertion guide sleeve: a hard, wear resistant guide sleeve made to the cross section of the PA66GF25 thermal break strip. It keeps the strip aligned as it enters the profile groove.
Polyurethane press roller: prevents scratches on the profile surface and presses the strip and profile together. This supports insertion quality.
Tension device: includes a tension pulley and an adjusting screw. It adjusts the tension of the insertion conveyor belt or chain to prevent slipping that shifts strip position.
Auxiliary milling parts for models with milling
Carbide milling cutter head: used to machine the thermal break strip mounting groove in aluminum profiles. Service life is 3 to 5 times that of standard high speed steel cutter heads. It is a wear part.
Positioning and clamping parts
Fixture positioning parts
Profile locating block: custom made to the cross section of the thermal break aluminum profile. It mounts on the machine table. It limits the X and Y position of the profile and keeps the datum consistent for each run to avoid notching offset.
Thermal break strip locating fixture: a dedicated fixture for PA66GF25 strip. It keeps the strip from rotating during insertion and improves insertion accuracy.
Clamping parts
Pneumatic clamping cylinder: standard thin cylinders, often from AirTAC or Festo. Air pressure pushes the clamp block to hold the profile and prevent movement during machining.
Hydraulic clamping cylinder: for machines with large processing width. It provides higher clamping force and is more stable than pneumatic clamping.
Auxiliary parts
Electrical control and safety parts
PLC controller: handles automatic cycle, parameter adjustment, and fault alarms. Common models include Siemens S7-200 and Mitsubishi FX series.
Detection and protection components: proximity switches, limit switches, emergency stop buttons, and safety light curtains. Safety light curtains are mandatory standard safety parts. They detect hands entering the machining area and trigger a stop.
Power distribution protection components: fuses, AC contactors, and thermal relays. They provide overload and short circuit protection.
Lubrication and maintenance parts
Grease cups and grease pumps: add grease to reducer bearings, notching roller shaft seats, and other moving parts. They reduce friction and wear and extend machine service life.
Oil lines and oil level sight: monitor lubricant level and deliver oil to transmission points.
Chip removal and cleaning parts
Chip chute and chip collection box: collect aluminum chips from notching and milling. They prevent chip buildup from affecting machine transmission and machining accuracy.
Compressed air nozzle: blows residual aluminum chips out of the machine during routine maintenance.
Wear parts
Spare notching rollers: high frequency wear parts. When the tooth profile wears, replace the roller directly without dismantling the whole machine.
Spare carbide milling cutter heads: replace every 300 to 500 hours depending on workload. These are periodic replacement consumables.
