Side load case packers, also known as side push case packers, differ from common top-drop and robotic arm-gripping case packing equipment. This type of machinery pushes pre-arranged product groups into cartons from the side. This method is particularly suitable for fragile items and products prone to tipping over.
Specific Workflow of the Side Load Case Packer
From the perspective of the entire equipment, the workflow is primarily divided into four steps.
Carton Forming
During operation, unformed flat cartons are pulled open by vacuum suction cups or robotic arms in the cartoning area to their predetermined shape and aligned with the products awaiting packing. The carton flaps are typically held open and secured by side clamps.
Product Conveying
Products awaiting packing enter the sorting zone via conveyor lines, where they are automatically organized and aligned to prepare for cartoning.
Side-Push Cartoning
Once products are sorted and aligned with the cartoning opening, a push plate horizontally transfers them into the carton.
Sealing and Discharge
After cartoning is complete, the filled carton is conveyed to the next workstation. During transport, corresponding flaps seal the carton opening.

Key Components of the Side Load Case Packer Drive System
As a supplier of packaging machinery components, we frequently provide gears, machined parts, indexing tables, and other components to packaging machinery clients. Below, using a side load case packer as an example, we analyze the key components of its transmission system.
Linear Guide
This serves as the track for the side-loading action, primarily ensuring the push plate maintains a straight path without deviation during both advancement and retraction. We offer high-precision linear guides in multiple specifications.
Precision Rotary Indexer
The rotary indexing table is an indispensable component in case packers, primarily used to switch products between different workstations. Examples include cam indexers or hollow rotary tables, which can be combined for use.
Gears
Gears are the key transmission elements in such equipment. This includes drive gears from the motor to the conveyor rollers, sprockets meshing with chains, and various precision pinion gears.
Equipment Frame
The equipment frame, including components like bases and stainless steel enclosures, is predominantly cast. Hansheng Automation employs processes such as sand casting and lost foam casting, capable of producing large castings up to 3800mm in size.
