The ring gear is heated and set on the outer edge of the flywheel, and after cooling it is fastened to the outer edge of the flywheel and used to mesh with the starter gear to rotate the crankshaft and start the engine.

 

The main production process of gear ring processing can be divided into six stages:

 

1. Drop: The original steel is rolled from a straight bar to a coiled form, the coiled steel is split into ring blanks according to the center line, then the ring is split to remove the weld fringe.


2. Machining: It consists of two steps, the first step is to rotate the inner diameter and finish the surface, which takes 1-1.5 minutes; the second step is to turn the outer diameter and outer surface, which takes the same time as the first step.


3. Hobbing: The outer diameter of the machined ring is machined into gear teeth by means of a hob, operated with the aid of a "gear dresser" machine.


4. Chamfering: After the gear teeth are formed, a chamfering tool is used to create a chamfer on the side of the ring to reduce friction and increase functionality, taking 1-2 minutes.


5. Deburring and Washing Punching: Cleaning the metal debris and washing the gears with anti-rust oil takes one minute.


6. Induction hardening: Adjust process parameters (e.g., heating source, cycle time, temperature, quenching medium, and tempering cycle) to customize the part, enhance the surface hardness of the gear teeth, and control the depth of hardness.
