The rotary tablet press is mainly composed of the tablet pressing system, transmission system, feeding system, control system, and safety protection system. Its core function is to compress powdered raw materials into tablets of specified shape and hardness. All systems work in coordination, with the precision of the tablet pressing system directly determining the quality of the finished product. Hansheng Automation can complete customized machining of critical components such as punches, dies, and pressure rollers according to customer design drawings, using high-quality materials and strictly controlling tolerances to ensure long-term stable equipment operation.
1. Tablet Pressing System
The punch and die assembly is the core forming mold, consisting of the upper punch, middle die, and lower punch, which directly determines the shape, size, and embossed pattern of the tablets. We possess drawing-based customization capability and can provide single-piece or small-batch precision machining for different machine models, selecting high-wear-resistant die steel with surface hardness reaching HRC58-62 and tolerances controlled within ±0.01 mm, effectively solving problems such as sticking and chipping that often occur with irregular-shaped or embossed tablets.
The pressure rollers convert the rotary motion of the transmission system into vertical pressure and are usually manufactured from bearing steel.
The guide rails control the lifting and lowering trajectory of the punch rods to ensure precise centering during the tablet pressing process, with a tolerance requirement of ±0.05 mm.
2. Transmission System
The main motor provides the power source, with a common power range of 3-15 kW (depending on machine model size).
The worm gear reducer typically has a speed ratio of 1:30-1:50, achieving smooth speed reduction and torque increase.
The main shaft carries the rotation of the turret and is mostly made of 42CrMo alloy steel with quenching and tempering treatment. We can perform precision machining of matching non-standard bearing seats or couplings according to customer drawings to improve transmission rigidity and service life.
3. Feeding System
The hopper stores the material to be compressed, with a capacity of 20-100 L (optional vacuum feeding interface available).
The forced feeder is equipped with an auger or powder scraper to ensure that the die hole filling uniformity deviation is less than ±3%.
The filling adjustment mechanism controls tablet weight by adjusting the insertion depth of the lower punch, with accuracy reaching ±1%.
4. Control System
The PLC controller processes data from pressure sensors and displacement sensors, with a preset pressure range typically of 5-80 kN.
The HMI human-machine interface displays output and fault codes (such as overload alarm E01).
The pressure monitoring system continuously monitors the maximum pressure deviation and automatically rejects tablets when the set value is exceeded.
5. Safety Protection System
The mechanical interlock device ensures immediate machine stop when the protective cover is opened (complying with GB/T 15706-2012 standard).
Overload protection uses hydraulic or mechanical methods, with the pressure tolerance usually set at ±10% of the rated value.
The emergency stop button is a red mushroom-head button complying with IEC 60204-1 safety standard.
6. Auxiliary Systems
The dust extraction interface connects to the central dust collection system (recommended air volume ≥3000 m³/h).
The lubrication system uses automatic grease lubrication with adjustable intervals (usually every 2-4 hours).
The tablet rejection device is driven by compressed air with a response time of less than 0.1 s.
Equipment operating parameters must be adjusted according to material characteristics: pre-compression pressure is typically 20-30% of the main pressure, main shaft speed ranges from 10-40 rpm, and material moisture content is generally controlled between 1.5-3.5%. Before operation, it must be confirmed that the molds are firmly installed, and the equipment must never be run without the middle die installed. We can perform single-piece or small-batch precision machining according to customer-provided design drawings, providing rapid-response customization support for critical components of the tablet pressing system to help customers extend equipment service life while ensuring tablet quality.
