As a precision transmission component, the storage and installation methods of Timing belts directly affect their service life and transmission efficiency.

Storage and Installation of Timing Belts2

Key Points for Storage of Synchronous Belts

1. Avoid excessive bending and breaking: It is strictly prohibited to forcefully bend or break synchronous belts excessively, as this may damage the reinforcement layer and render them unusable.

2. Store in a natural state: Do not store the belt in an abnormal bent state for extended periods. It should be kept in its natural extended state whenever possible.

3. Storage environment requirements: Synchronous belts must be stored in a cool, shaded area to avoid exposure to direct sunlight, high temperatures, humidity, or other adverse conditions that could affect the material.

Installation Guidelines for Synchronous Belts

1. Correct Installation Method: When installing, reduce the center distance and loosen the tensioner pulley. Do not forcefully pull or drag the synchronous belt over the protruding edge of the pulley, as this may damage the belt and pulley.

2. Pulley and Belt Alignment: The teeth of the pulley must be perpendicular to the direction of belt rotation to ensure smooth engagement between the belt and pulley, minimizing vibration and wear during transmission.

3. Shaft Parallelism Control: The parallelism between the drive pulley and driven pulley shafts must be controlled to approximately tangent = 1/1000. Inaccurate shaft alignment directly affects the synchronous belt's service life, leading to uneven force distribution and accelerated wear.

4. Adjusting synchronous belt misalignment: If the belt on the drive pulley is misaligned to one side, adjust by moving the driven pulley and regulating the tensioner's pressure to maintain the correct running trajectory of the synchronous belt.

5. Inspection and reinforcement: During startup, if the center distance changes, the synchronous belt becomes loose, and tooth skipping occurs, inspect whether the pulley frame is loose, whether the shaft positioning is accurate, and promptly adjust and reinforce as needed.

6. Properly tensioning the synchronous belt: When installing the synchronous belt, appropriate tension must be applied based on the specific model and belt width. Insufficient tension may cause the synchronous belt to become loose or skip teeth, while excessive tension may accelerate wear on the synchronous belt and pulleys.

7. Installation position of the tensioning pulley: The tensioning pulley must be installed on the loose side of the driven transmission. This ensures good tensioning effect during transmission and reduces unnecessary wear on the pulley and synchronous belt.

Proper storage and installation of synchronous belts are critical for ensuring their normal operation and extending their service life. Through correct storage and scientific installation methods, the performance advantages of synchronous belts can be effectively utilized, providing a strong guarantee for the stable operation of equipment.
