Why Is Accurate Connection Between Turntable and Indexer Crucial?
In automated systems, the combination of turntable and indexer is very common. When installing these two types of equipment, there are several issues that need to be taken into account. On the one hand, the transmission needs to ensure the accuracy of the system, and on the other hand, the speed of the turntable machine must also be guaranteed to ensure the efficiency and use of the entire automation system.

The connection between the disc and the rotary indexer is a topic of concern in the design of automation systems. The indexer itself has a certain accuracy, and after being connected with the disc, the accuracy range of the system will be larger, from the point of view of the error of the angle system. In other words, even for large-diameter discs, the accuracy required by most common industries is sufficient. The connection of parts between machines can have a certain impact on accuracy. Therefore, when we do automation design, we try to avoid or use less indirect connections, which ensures the accuracy error caused by the connection between mechanical parts to a certain extent.

For this reason, we advocate a direct connection between an automatic system using a cam indexer and the brake disc. The flanged indexer adopts a flanged short shaft structure, which has a positioning function, and the small flange can play the role of fixed connection. For some large diameter discs, they are mostly connected with hollow flanges, such as DA type indexers. The flange surface is connected with the disc. Due to the mechanical connection, the circumferential fixation method makes the two components virtually non-existent. Impact on accuracy.
However, in practice, design problems arise and a direct connection between the disc and the indexer cannot be guaranteed. For example, in the later design transformation, technological innovation and other production requirements, the intermediate flange used for connection is often used, and it must be said that the intermediate connection mechanism has an impact on the accuracy of the entire system. It is recommended that automation systems with high precision requirements, especially when speed and accuracy requirements coexist, should connect the disc and indexer. Conduct an effective assessment. Because when the distance between the indexer and the system disc increases, not only radial accuracy but also axial runout must be considered. The high speed of use of this system will have a large impact on the method.
How to Minimize Accuracy Loss in Indirect Connections?
The direct connection between the mechanical parts will reduce the impact of the movement deformation of the parts on the accuracy to a certain extent. If it is necessary to extend the connection distance between the disc and the cam indexer, then for the non-standard indexer manufacturer, it is recommended to negotiate the processing form with the indexer manufacturer to ensure that the output shaft of the indexer is integrated, which can reduce the impact on the accuracy of the disc during use.
