Standardizing the operation of an automatic cartoning machine is essential for ensuring packaging quality, reducing unexpected downtime, and extending equipment service life. A standard operational procedure generally comprises five stages: pre-startup inspection, parameter adjustment, inching commissioning, continuous production monitoring, and post-production maintenance.
1. Pre-Startup Inspection and Preparation
Mechanical Inspection: Check the fastening status of conveyor chains, magazine guide rails, pushing mechanisms, and folding tooling. Ensure all bolts are secure and moving assemblies are free from obstructions.
Pneumatic and Electrical Inspection: Verify that main air pressure is within the nominal operating range (typically 0.5–0.7 MPa) and hoses are free from leaks. Inspect optical sensor lenses for cleanliness and ensure safety door interlocks function properly.
Material Verification: Verify the batch dimensions of products and pre-glued carton blanks. Ensure carton score lines are sharp and blanks are free from moisture warpage, preventing misfeeds during carton erecting.
2. Parameter Setting and Tooling Adjustment
Adjust carton magazine guides, conveyor channel widths, and pusher rod strokes according to product dimensions.
Enter or load the corresponding recipe on the HMI, setting operating speed, pusher delay timing, tucking phases, and adhesive/insertion parameters.
Hansheng Automation recommends strictly aligning the coaxiality and symmetry between the pusher mechanism and carton guide chutes during changeovers. Ensuring mechanical baselines match electrical parameters avoids eccentric stress and prevents premature tooling wear.
3. Inching Commissioning and Clearance Verification
Run the machine dry at low speed to verify that main drive shafts, cam mechanisms, and gearboxes operate smoothly without abnormal vibration or noise.
Load a small batch of cartons and products, switch to manual/inching mode, and step through the sequence: carton erecting, product loading, flap tucking/sealing, and discharge. Observe mechanical timing closely to ensure there is no mechanical interference or collision risk.
4. Automatic Production and In-Line Monitoring
Once commissioning is confirmed, switch to automatic mode and smoothly ramp up to the target production speed.
During operation, monitor carton squareness, tuck-in flatness, and reject station accuracy.
In the event of a jam or alarm, press the emergency stop and isolate the air supply before clearing. Never reach into mechanical operating zones while the machine is powered.
5. Shutdown Cleaning and Wear Part Maintenance
After production, disconnect main power and air supplies, and clean away loose paper dust, debris, and residual adhesive from the chassis.
Lubricate linear guide rails, bearing housings, and cam tracks according to scheduled maintenance guidelines.
Regularly inspect running clearances on core moving parts such as suction linkages, pusher sliders, and folding guide plates.
