Calculation of Stop Time for Cam Divider

The stop time of a cam splitter is usually closely related to the device's beat time, indexing angle, and indexing time. In the design of automated mechanical equipment, each workstation has motion and stop actions, and completing one motion and stop action is one cycle. This cycle time, also known as the beat time, is the time it takes for the input shaft to rotate once, which is equal to the sum of the indexing time and the stopping time.

1. Dividing angle: Dividing angle is one of the important parameters of cam indexing, which determines the angle change of the output shaft during the indexing process. Subtracting the indexing angle from 360 ° equals the angle at which the corresponding output shaft stops, which is called the stopping angle. For example, if the indexing angle is 120 °, its stopping angle is 240 °.

2. Beat time: composed of transposition time and stop time. If the transposition time and division angle are known, the total beat time can be calculated through a proportional relationship. For example, if the indexing time is 1 second and the indexing angle is 120 degrees, the pause time is 2 seconds (because the pause time corresponds to the stopping angle, which is twice the indexing time), and the total beat time is 3 seconds.

In practical applications, the first thing that can be determined is often the pause time, because it corresponds to the process operation time at each workstation, so it must be able to complete the process operation at the workstation that requires the longest process operation time.

Calculation of Positioning Accuracy of Cam Divider

The positioning accuracy of a cam splitter is one of the important indicators to measure its performance, usually expressed in angular seconds (″).

1. Standard accuracy: The general standard splitter accuracy is ± 30 inches. This means that during the segmentation process, the deviation between the positioning angle of the output axis and the actual set angle will not exceed ± 30 inches.

2. High precision products: For situations with special precision requirements, high-precision cam dividers can be produced. At present, high-precision products on the market can achieve a precision of ± 10 inches or even higher. The price of these high-precision products usually increases with the improvement of precision requirements.

The calculation of positioning accuracy involves complex mechanical design and manufacturing process factors, including cam profile design, machining accuracy, assembly accuracy, etc. Therefore, in practical applications, engineers usually choose the appropriate cam splitter model based on specific working conditions and accuracy standards, and verify whether its positioning accuracy meets design requirements through actual testing.
