Adjusting the labeling position on a labeling machine starts with confirming the product positioning datum. It then involves adjusting three core structures: the relative position of the label station, the conveyor synchronization parameters, and the trigger sensor. This applies to flat surfaces, round bottles, irregular shapes, and other labeling scenarios.

I. Preliminary Datum Confirmation

First, fix the positioning datum for product conveying to avoid labeling offset caused by fluctuations in product arrival position.

Flat products: Use the product side edge or printed reference line as the alignment reference. Adjust the conveyor stop block so the product always stops at a fixed position at the labeling station.

Round bottles: Use the bottle axial centerline and the bottle bottom or mouth as the reference. Adjust the bottle stopping mechanism so the bottle center coincides with the labeling station center.

Install a trigger photoelectric sensor. Adjust its mounting height and position to ensure the product accurately triggers the label dispensing signal when it arrives, avoiding false triggering or missed triggering.

II. Core Structure Adjustment

(1) Label Station Position Adjustment

Adjust the label head position according to the labeling product type.

Flat labeling: Adjust the label head in the X/Y/Z three-axis positions. The X-axis moves forward and backward along the conveying direction to match product arrival timing and label dispensing time. The Y-axis is fine-tuned left and right so the label edge aligns with the product reference line. The Z-axis adjusts the contact gap between the label head and product surface, usually controlled at 0.5–1 mm, to avoid label wrinkling or floating.

Round bottle labeling: In addition to three-axis adjustment, the circumferential rotation angle of the label station needs to be adjusted so the label is applied at the predetermined axial position on the bottle. At the same time, fine-tune the label magazine tilt angle to adapt to the round bottle curved surface and prevent label wrinkling.

Irregular shape labeling: Replace with flexible labeling components suitable for irregular products. Adjust the label station angle to match the product curved surface.

For custom labeling stations, Hansheng Automation can machine adjustment brackets, vacuum suction cups, pressing rollers, and guide blocks from customer drawings in single pieces or small batches, so the mechanical adjustment range matches the product and line layout.

(2) Conveying and Synchronization Adjustment

Ensure stable conveying speed and synchronization with the label dispensing action.

Adjust the tension of the conveyor belt or chain to avoid speed fluctuations caused by slipping.

Calibrate the synchronization between conveying speed and label dispensing speed. Use a meter counter to test the label dispensing length, and adjust the frequency converter parameters so the label dispensing speed matches the conveying speed. This avoids label stretching, short labeling, or misalignment.

Fine-tune the dwell time of the stopping mechanism to ensure the product remains stationary during labeling and does not shift.

(3) Label Web Deviation Correction

Solve the problem of label web deviation during feeding.

Automatic correction models: Align the label web edge with the correction photoelectric sensor. Calibrate the sensitivity and stroke parameters of the correction motor to ensure there is no lateral deviation during label feeding.

Manual correction models: Loosen the label magazine fixing bolts, fine-tune the left and right position of the label magazine, align it with the product labeling reference, tighten it, and then run a trial label to verify.

III. Commissioning Verification and Correction

Continuously trial-label 5–10 products of the same type and sample-check the labeling position deviation. For flat labeling, the allowable deviation is ≤±0.5 mm. For round bottle labeling, the allowable axial deviation is ≤±1 mm.

If batch offset occurs, first check whether the conveying synchronization parameters are abnormal, and then adjust the label station position.

After adjustment is completed, lock all fastening bolts on adjustable structures to prevent displacement during production.

IV. Safe Operation Boundaries

Before adjusting the equipment, the main power must be disconnected and lockout/tagout must be applied to prevent accidental startup of rotating parts and conveying mechanisms that could injure personnel. Adjustment of high-voltage and variable-frequency models must be performed by a certified electrician.
