CNC Horizontal Deep Hole Drilling Machine is a machine tool that relies on specific drilling technology (such as gun drilling, BTA drilling, spray suction drilling, etc.) to drill deep holes with an aspect ratio of more than 10 and precise shallow holes, and adopts a horizontal structure equipped with a high-pressure internal cooling system (6-20MPa), and the operating system is controlled by CNC, which is known as a CNC Horizontal Deep Hole Drilling Machine.

So how do you use a horizontal deep hole drilling machine for top bar hole machining? Please read on:

1. Before machining the cavity structure with CNC deep hole drilling, establish the machining reference according to the 3D coordinate data of the workpiece hole, and calibrate the drill bit and workpiece positioning surface (error ≤ 0.02mm) by laser tool setting instrument. When machining the top rod hole from one side of the core, BTA drilling process (speed 800-1200rpm, feed 0.03-0.08mm/r) is required, and the fluctuation of axial force is monitored in real time (controlled within ±15%) to ensure the hole position accuracy.

2. The contact area between the guide sleeve and the core surface will be 70% when the radius of curvature of the core surface is less than 50mm, thus producing the leakage rate of cutting fluid more than 30%.Before machining, we should give tungsten steel profiling guide bus (hardness 85HRA top priority. Usually, we check the guide bus and surface clearance ( 0.05mm) using the CMM, thus verifying the material we will handle. It is advised to switch to floating guides (radial correction ±2mm) with MQL micro-lubrication technology for complicated surfaces with radius of curvature less than 30mm.

3. Fix the components including the moving mould plate, the core, and the top bar fixing plate through the HSK63 locating pins (interference fit 0.005-0.01mm), and then carry out step drilling from the side of the moving mould fixing plate for other precision top bar holes. It is required to lower the feed rate to 30% (e.g., the original 0.06mm/r is changed to 0.02mm/r) and open the pecking drilling cycle (backing out frequency of 2 times/mm) concurrently to prevent the drill bit from chipping at a depth of 1-2 times the hole diameter from the penetration surface.
